That was part of the so-called health care "reform" bill and it was removed by the Democrats because they couldn't get it passed with that language in it. Once it was passed, by the way, it was added to the bill by Obama's executive order, but the DNC and the Obama administration don't want YOU to know that. They just want you to buy the false narrative that "evil, mean" Republicans lied about their unconstitutional bill.

1 They were simply offering people a reimbursement for a doctor's visit to set one up. There are 1000s of procedures insurance will cover, none of them mean that any of them are mandatory.

2 Death panels mean that someone else will make up the will for you. The living will is what you decide, not a phantom panel.

3 Even if you got a living will, you can simply say use all means to keep me alive

Otherwise they would end up covering all sorts of fraudulent or dangerous procedures. They were not some sort of tribunal to decide if a patient was worthy to live. Private medical companies are working around the clock to bring the latest in medical technology so that they can make money. With government healthcare, you're stuck to one plan and no matter your monitary bracket, you dont get a choice. Also, for goverment care there's no option to pay out of pocket like some people would be willing and able to do. So yes, the death panel label sticks pretty well.

Hell, they can choose not to take insurance at all. Private clincs that charge less for everyday ailments, rather than expensive doctors for everything, are more popular than ever. When you remove choice from the equation, competition goes down and prices goes up and it forces you to buy something that you might not want.
