ok teh light and dark goddes were once whole,because the whole goddess created shaiya and the races vail and death eaters first,but then re-did teh deatheaters and teh vaill killed the great goddess and she split into the light and dark goddess the light goddess made teh elves the humas came form a distant island and the elves came to there rescue which formed teh alliance of light then teh vail came to the deatheaters rescue and formed teh union of fury

Actually the two sides can co-exist. Just they dont want to. The Vails are the only race that would like to co-exist but the light side and the Nordians wouldn't have it. Shaiya's story is quite complicated and like WoW it's not black and white
