  • I like your energy. I should read Jonathan Gullible. As for the Da Vinci code, its not intellectual. for some reason people seem to think anything bashing christianity is intellectual. Ive seen people quote the Da Vinci Code in arguments as if fact! ha! read through it... but stopped with 50 pages to go. I already knew how it was going to end.

  • I'm reading The Drama of the Gifted Child right now. The writing seems okay to me thus far. But I don't normally expect very much from translations, in that respect.

  • first time I heard "nifty" when refering to a book.

    thanks for the quick reviews!

  • Drama of the Gifted Child is great!

  • I found 'Free to Choose' to be very interesting!

Even though it is dated, it gives many relevant reasons to support laissez-faire Capitalism. His chapters on banking and inflation are boring, i'll admit.

  • I couldn't get into The Hobbit either.

  • hey there! if you like reviewing books you should check out our channel & ESPECIALLY watch our video about the back to school challenge! it offers you an opportunity to be involved in the project!

    SPREAD THE WORD!

  • really cool, however i think that the davinci code is popular because it is fast, and people don't get bored with it. because no one will read things that bore them. but yeah that is why.

  • you are rad and awesome and this is fun to wathc. it didn't seem like it would itnerest me but it did.

  • Thanks for the tip on Holt's book.

    I'm gonna check it out.

  • I thought Trinity was really good :\ SUPER sad but I suppose it needed to be to get the point across that Ireland was really F'ed up back then, I admit the beginning was so boring I almost didn't read it but as the story went along, it got alot better.

  • Friedman, Rand? I love your choice in books. I'm currently reading through The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible (actually in a different language... La Aventuroj de Jonatano Gullible), great to see someone on youtube with it!

  • I would sudjest the "Myth of National Defense" or "Human Action." I have liked what i have heard from Alice Miller, but I get the strange sensation that she jumps to conclusions about a few things.

  • Barbara Branden is a lying cunt.

  • Why do you say that? what did she lie about?

  • Amazing isn't it?! As if they didn't listen to a word of your "criticalness kills creativity" posting only days before this - unless its deliberate, gratuitous malevolence, in which case its not just a question of 'intervention to disagree'.

What I'm trying to say Mr.aaron0883 is that disagreeing has criteria and is not unconditional.

    * It has to come from a rational principle *

(Other'wise' it just becomes circular blah-blah)

    LFC

  • you in crack? lol <3 5stars

  • Hint: if something is really popular, it's probably crap and you shouldn't bother with it. That's not ALWAYS true, but it's a pretty good rule of thumb.

Crappy books DO make for good review videos though. I'm glad you saved me from ever reading Milton Friedman. That poor guy gets no respect. It's kinda funny.

  • I'm glad about the Milton Friedman review as well. Somone recommended me to read it.

  • At 5:33 I think I coppied your mannerisms and presentation accedently for a couple of second. I did a poor job though ... so don't feel you you need to change to keep your individuality.

  • These epic novels about elfish folk going on mystical questions often don't have a plot; it's just some band going on a quest through a forest and picking fights w/ monsters. I think these books are popular because everything has a fancy name.

  • And so Bardak the goblinoid embarked on an epic quest for the Sword of Awkward Silences, traveling through the Jungle of Despair. There he fell in love with faerie-human hybrid Zorbina, and battled the Samurai Legion. At last, w/ the Sword, the Alliance of Virtue can defend itself in war against the Horde of Undead Platypi!

  • So there. That's a paperback sword & sorcery novel right there.

I know that "The Sword of Truth" is supposed to be pro-Objectivist, but I can't relate to it at all. *The Fountainhead* accurately captures the essence of psychological issues that I have to deal w/ in real life; "Sword of Truth" doesn't.

  • I have to admit that one sword & sorcery story I like is "The Flight of Dragons." I like the animated movie version; not the two books it's based on.

  • It's awesome that you recommend *Jonathan Gullible*. I'm going to give Prof. Schoolland the URL to this video. He's the author of the text in that famous viral YouTube video "The Philosophy of Liberty."

*Horn-tootin' warning*: You know that edition of *Jonathan Gullible* you have? My name is in the acknowledgments section. :-)

  • That's awesome. I noticed a while ago that he was the author of both. I have shown that video to several people, and obviously favorited it.

  • I totally agree w/ you about *Lies My Teacher Told Me*. The author just wants to substitute the mainstream, moderately statist Arthur Schlesinger-type interpretation w/ his own radically Chomskyan socialist interpretation. He expects you to believe that everyone but him is a propagandist for Western corporate greed, & only his socialism is objective.
