He was talking about the US being the only nation to go too bloodshed to free slaves. If you know your history the civil war had nothing to do with freeing slaves, but all about money, in that the north couldn't compete with the south's pool of slave labor.

The US has the highest rate of gun death and gun injury in the world. There's a reason for that. I would bet that all the guns floating around is the number one reason why people are wary of travelling to the United States.
Every person is Switzerland has a gun and they have one of the lowest murder rates on the planet, Canada as well. Also, criminals almost always kill with illegal guns, so making guns illegal would have no effect on the criminals actions. Also, people with guns have saved countless lives against criminals. Recently the woman in Colorado just saved hundreds at the mega church shooting.
People who comit crimes with guns aren't the people who obey the laws. Making it illegal to own a gun would only disarm those people who obey the law.

Generally I think Ron Paul helps us to re-think our assumptions in current political topics, but sometimes his campaign sounds a little nutty. This was also the problem with Lyndon LaRouche.
