Ok Basic Shapes I dont understand! That totally makes it complicated for me. Why not just use the shape it is? Does breaking it down into parts help you figure out where certain things go easier or what? Every drawing book talks about basic shapes and i never understood it. They always start with a circle. WHY? When the drawing doesnt even look like a circle? Please explain cause im lost!!!
OMG FINALLY someone who understands!!!! Ryan i can tattoo and airbrush and everyone thinks im good but its all just stencils!!! I dont know why some peices turn out good and others dont. I dont understand ART. WHERE DO I START? I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO THINK LIKE AN ARTIST SO I AM THE MASTER OF MY OWN PROJECT AND NOT THE STENCIL :) HELP ME!!!!!
Hey Ryan, great video! Its awesome to watch someone work with the airbrush and teach you the tips of the trade. I am just starting out, and have a decent background it art, but nothing in airbrushing. What do you suggest is a great airbrush to purchase that you can get the fine detail with? Also, what type of eraser is that? Can it be used on metal panels? Keep up the great work and vids. Detroit says hello!
Thank you Ryan for taking the extra time to explain each step, and break them down into understandable pieces. You are a big help and huge inspiration. I know it's hard to paint and keep the airbrush out ot the way to be able to show the work, but maybe you could talk to the cameraman. ;) Thanks again.
idk if you could answer this or any other good artist reading my question do you thinks its bad to zoom into a reference photo like in the computer or should i just try to draw what i could see in the photo in regular size. is this like a bad habit or will zooming in be helpful
Zooming in is an excellent idea when doing details. I zoom in SUPER far when doing my portraits. I like to draw every single little detail that I can. Just make sure you don't get lost in your painting.
can you give me some tips on how to thin paint, pls. I bought an airbrush like 6 months ago and it's just sitting there because i can never get the right consistency. All my paint splashes..
hi there, luv the vids,,can u tell me more about the paint you use standox, reason being i have been ofered a suply of 5ltr tins of tints car paint ,is it poss for me to use and mix my self ,thanks katie
Damn good video. I'm drawing for about 12 or more years, but I'm pretty new in airbrushing, and sometimes (read- all the time ;p) I have some problems. I watched J. Rodriguez videos earlier, but he's painting too fast for me and sometimes don't explains what he has done. I prefer your style better. It's like "unscrew smthg for parts, look how it works, put it back together and try if it still works" :)Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. Best regards from Poland, Greg
I have been following Jaime for a while now and have only recently come across yourself.
After putting all the tips from Jaime to practice I have still managed to gain alot of knowledge from your video's so thanks, it just goes to show no matter how much you learn there is always more to discover.
Thanx! I'm glad I could help. Yeah, Jaime and I have completely different styles. It's always best to learn everything you can and put it all together to a style that's personal to you.
@BerserkCustomPaint That's so true, even when I thought i had my own kinda style I still changed and improved after gaining further knowledge from artist's like yourself and Jaime.
You don't even realise it really, it's mad how the brain works....
when everyone can understand that ""easy"" concept: DEEP AND LIGHT will discover a true key in the process of the arts;because not all have the oportunity of a artist formation in art school.and any stencil become to be a secondary tool, only for support; and our works become to be a better and better...practice ,practice... thanks ryan for be generous and very god young teacher...keep fighting.
you are the only painter i have heard of useing standox paint to airbrush with. i have been spraying standox for 16 years on auto, what msb thinner do you use to airbrush with and what raito. i like the light source, best thing yet for me on your viedos , you said make each part of your art work a picture within a picture, thank for the viedos
you make deffentligt good videos an d point learn training eyes to see at the time.but you can learn be better in eyes, airguns, drawing just by doing stencils or make skulle on transfer..
May be iam wrong but all custom airbrush start up like that and using all can help you..But you still have to learn drawing and see like artist.
I don't' quite understand what you were saying, but I do want to say that the stencils are a great tool to use, but without a solid artistic foundation and understanding of anatomy, perspective, light ect. then your stencils tend to come across as generic and cheap.
Thanks to b ther for uss.

@ronnie692006
I don't know that they teach airbrush in colleges anymore. I live in Oklahoma though. I may be able to hook up some private lessons.

As long as your paint is the same brand then you can use it and mix it all you want.
