WOW!! love this!! SO THRILLING AND FUN!! LOVE IT!! yethireeebob..its fanFUGGENTASTIC!! LOVE "MY MOMMA TOLD ME"" giggles....she should do more RAP STUFF!! giggles
Three, six, nine, the goose drank wine, the monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line; the line broke, the monkey got choked, and they all went to heaven in a little row boat. At least she didn't butcher this song; imagine how it would have sounded from someone else's mouth.
I adored this song when it came out, played the 45 on repeat. Now that I'm no longer 14 years old, I can see that it may not have been the musical genius and killer hit that I was hoping for (and that it failed to become). But a perfectly serviceable version of a song that had been a perfectly good hit earlier on by a perfectly serviceable singer. I still enjoy listening to it, and was thrilled to find the video in today's search.
This video is so bad, it's good!! So basically, these poor school children sees their prim and proper Victorian school teacher become ravished by savage hunks!!Then she becomes a half naked Queen of the Jungle!! And the kids love it!!
I remember seeing Pia Zadora performing this song live with two muscle hunks on a makeshift stage at Revolver in West Hollywood. I loved this song when I heard it and I still remember watching her perform live as this video was shown on a big screen TV behind her
I LOVE this song, have the original vinyl 45 from 1983!!! This should've been a huge top 10 hit, instead of reaching only #36. This song was in the Top 40 back in Feb of '83 with other great songs like "Tied Up" (Olivia Newton-John), "I Knew You When" ( Linda Ronstadt), "The Woman In Me" (Donna Summer) and "I Know There's Something Going On" (Frida).
I AGREE! This should have been a major hit on the dance charts at least. I was working in big clubs at the time and there were only a handful of DJ's that were even willing to play it.
Pia Zador was considered so un-cool back then that even the gay crowd wasn't willing to see it for its camp value. It is a great song, very fun and danceable. May also be that it did not mix easily with other songs of the era. Had it had Cyndi Lauper's name attached to it we would have heard it aplenty.
Thanks so much for this, it's fabulous! I remember listening to this in junior high but didn't know Pia at the time & didn't know it was her. I have her "I Am What I Am" cassette, amazing voice, she doesn't get enough credit--wish she'd come back to singing, plus she's so gorgeous. Oh, is that Isaiah Washington at 2:36? jk, it looks like him.
Thanks for the posting! I had this 45 and some other Pia songs. I never knew they had made a video. Shame to hear that she's retired...I'd love to see her again.
Wow, I never realized how hot Pia Zadora was! Probably because I was about 12 when this song came out. " My Mommy told me, if I was goody, that she would buy me a rubber dolly", that looked just like Pia Zadora and oh how the monkey did get choked.
Thanks for posting this video. I remember hearing about this video back in the 80's but it never got played on TV - at least from what I saw back then. This is the first time that I saw it so thanks for making it available.
I love Pia! There is a song she did back in 1989 called "Heartbeat Of Love", and the video was played a lot at the club my friends and I went to. The song was produced by Clivilles & Cole of C&C music Factory. I wish sombody had the video to post here. I do have a copy of the 12" vinyl. This is a great song!
Thanks for the tip - had no idea she released something notable 5 years after "When the rain begins to fall" (feat. Jermaine Jackson), this is the only song that I know of her.
"Three, six, nine, the goose drank wine, the monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line... the line broke, the monkey got choked, and they all went to heaven in a little rowboat." An Ally McBeal kickboxing class had this very refrain.
impossible to find to download [even illegally!] she's retired [i read] she does'nt even have a web-site. i'd buy the cd [album] if i found it on amazon...but can't find it. thanks for posting this...i love it.

And this was a remake of a 60s Top 5 hit by Shirley Ellis. But I sure remember this, especially from AT40...

Shirley Ellis did this way back in the early 60's. Her version was way better, but this one sounds cool.
