  • something about her voice what a song.great .

  • First of all, let me wish a gifted and stellar performer a happy birthday. I recently became curious about this lady a few days ago after hearing her on XM radio. I googled her name and came up with videos and info which has mesmerized me for 3 days. Her voice and range is second to no female singer. I was stationed with the USAF in upstate Michigan during the early 60s, when Motown was getting started. I just wish I could have met her and saw in person what an inspiring artist she still is toda

  • Happy Birthday, Ms Kim Weston. 72 years young today and one of my favorite singers of any genre.

  • For me, the best ever Motown recording, it encapsulates Motown, love it xx

  • What is she, about a size 2? All that voice coming from such a little woman. Great Talent!

  • Actually very good film quality. There seems to be more appreciation of this music now than even just a few years ago, even amongst teens and 20-somethings, which is very encouraging. If more youth could become involved in the formal study of music, we may have a chance to see a return to something that resembles Motown, old-school Soul and R&B. Peace & blessings to all the friends and fans of Kim Weston! ~Kim Weston Fan Page

  • Another gret motown talent that didn't get her just due! Kim could blow!

  • Absolutely brilliant , I defy ANYONE not to bop around the floor with this on full blast.

  • I love all versions but, this one takes the prize. No doubt.

  • she has no idea how many artists she influenced. history will tell.

  • Her voice and body are bangin.!!.She is an urban Goddess. Legendary. Respect. MUAHHH!

  • Just like Brenda Holloway, Kim was wasted by Motown. Seems Berry Gordy let so many female singers go, just so that he could push squeaky Ms Ross, who had the most souless voice of them all.

Even Mary Wilson from the Supremes said "We can't sing soul".

  • @jazypee Berry was not trying to market "Soul" He wanted to create music that would sell to a White crowd because in the 1960s that was where the money was. Whites in those days did not listen to soul and radio stations would not play it either. Songs made by black artists did not have their faces on the jacket cover for fear that whites would not buy the record. It was sad that Berry Gordy did not push her more but he had his own ideas. The Supremes were a great cross over group.

  • Kim's shapely hips were out of sight!

  • Has anyone ever seen her "Hullaballoo" performance of this (live), where she is standing on this REALLY tall pillar and there are dancers aroundf the base? (Petula Clark introduces her.)

  • Unfortunately...this was JUST before my time. :-(

  • OMG...I am in my time machine. Luv this. WOW

  • Beautiful voice, genius talent, and excellent classic song. Kim should've replaced "Martha" in "The Vandellas"! ;)

  • How did Berry Gordy find such Beautiful voices and Beautiful personage at the same times!

I just accidentally saw P Diddy and some of his Hoes!

    (YUCK).

Those were Beautiful times for music and life!

  • This is one of Motown's greatest performances, even though it was never a top forty hit. Nobody else's version comes close to matching it..

  • Super post. Thank you.

  • Wow, thanks for posting and sharing this. I read some of the previous comments and i agree that her movement in this vid is simple, yet commanding. MTown had a number of strong, soulful female artists such as Martha Reeves, my personal fave. Yet, Kim's voice, style and delivery made her a standout among the other female artists on MTown's roster.

  • A super lady and a super talent! She barely moves and yet her presence is both very sexy and classy...she could teach a thing or two to today's coarse vulgar female "recording artists". Less Is More! Oh, and the song...one of the best recordings to come out of Motown, it gets everything right. Thank you Ms. Weston!

  • my favourite motown/northern tune

  • In 1975 in the same year the Doobie's did it, Charity Brown recorded the song, and in my opinion it is the best version of the song ever !

  • @shottut I am with you, I prefer Charity Brown's version to this one.

  • Dazzling & superior voice!!!

  • this woman could sing her ass off. that was the amazing thing about motown. the record company had so many females with absolutely beautiful voices.

  • : )

  • Was this Shindig?

  • I don,t thinks so?????????????????

  • Love it. She may sound like any other soul singer, but that doesn't take away from the fact this woman has talent, and Motown let this opportunity go.

  • To HuggableHowie PURE FUNK BROTHERS! The greatest studio band, that ver few people have heard of. Kick ass song

  • She was a thick little thang!!! :)

  • @7SEVEN7ification Duke Ellington described Kim Weston as a “beautiful ebony-hued satin doll whose generous physical adornments are well distributed”

  • @mrstep2me AMEN!

  • @huggablehowie Thanks for the update on Kim Weston...Never knew she was a DJ in Detroit! Why isn't she all over the news??? She's a living legend!!!!!!!!

  • In my opinion ... she's the best female Motown singer ever. Nothing against Diana Ross, Mary Wells, Tammy Terrell, Martha Reeves, Brenda Holloway, etc. ... but Kim Weston is the absolute best!

  • she sounds great but she sounds just as soulful as Martha and vandellas, which means she doesnt stand out. Great song. if i close my eyes i can hear Martha tearing this song up too.

  • Motown's most talented, most versatile, most beautiful lady. And would you know it... Berry Gordy "...just didn't know what to do with her..." She had a handful of single hits, and the (yes) TWO duet albums with Marvin Gaye. Never a solo album of her own. Also, check out any of her "greatest hit" compliations. Depending on who (company) is releasing said compilation, no two are alike. There's always another song that the last compilation left out.

  • What an incredible talent. Everyone should listen to her body of work--her voice will amaze you!

  • Love her. Ms. Kim Weston!

  • A Belated happy 70th birthday to Kim Weston.

  • realy motown with dynamic and power!

  • She hardly moves and this is one of the all time dancing songs ...ever! Pure class, thanks for posting

  • gorgeous voice, awesome song... perfection!

  • awesome - Love this......goosebumps yeah!!

  • Amazing to think that Kim Weston will be appearing in the UK next month, albeit part of a long list of soul stars assembled by David Gest for one of his specials. She's way down the bill and I doubt if she'll get more than two or three songs.

  • At least you can see her do a show. Haven't heard of any performances she's doing in the US

  • i'm a very young, white girl, and I absolutely love this music and time era!! she sings it so effortlessly.

    i got introduced to this song from a great CD set i received for my birthday last year, "Motown 50th Anniversary" it has 3 CD's, 40 songs in all. I heard songs I'd never before, sooo sooo happy :}

  • Personally I think the earthy singers of Motown, like Kim Weston, Martha Reeves, and Brenda Holloway were much better than, for instance, Diana Ross.

  • She is beautiful, I love your sound ♥

  • very cool video! Thanks for posting! I love Kim!

  • Kim is a DJ in Detroit today!

She is phenomonon today as she was then!

Those tamborines and 88s in the background make this version real different from Eddie Holland's version.

The Isley Bros and Doobie Bros tried to redo this in the future, but I think version by -Kim Weston-is the BEST ONE.

Weston, the Best One-- hey it rhymes!

Awesome tune. I rate it 5++.

  • @huggablehowie

She's no longer a DJ in Detroit... hasn't been for years now.

  • You've got a winning vid here!

  • I have the original 45 of this on Gordy (it's whats in the grooves that count) records. I bought it when i was 14 in 1965 and still love this song as much as when i first heard it.

  • Yes M'am, I will be happy to take you in my arms!

    She is FANTASTIC! AWESOME!

  • Kim and Brenda Holloway were in the same bucket as far as Motown support. Both were beautiful as well.

  • She wasn't fouteen years old; she had her own mind and her opinion, she had her own boyfriend, she didn't need Barry Gordys' BS. She wanted to get paid; it's amazing she ever recorded anything at all.

  • Thanks for posting this as I've not seen it before. Kim Weston was an absolute jewel of a singer who Motown never fully supported. I think there are more and more people like me who are coming to the conclusion that she was in fact one of the true greats.

  • You are so right, Kim was Motown's best female singer. I just can't understand how they could have neglected such a talent!
