If you are a fan of RPG's and havent played this game then you are missing out. There's endless amounts of content in a classic Sci fi/fantasy setting. The graphics are great, plenty of worlds to explore, awesome battle system. If you played this and were unsatisfied then you probably don't like Japan RPG's.

The voice acting(unbearable) and cliche story and characters(Generic) killed the game. but a great combat system is to be found there.

I gotta say, the way the flash and speed of the combat system in this game is pretty nice. It takes some of the best parts of big flashy effects and keeps it at a pace that's more enjoyable. SO was always good at that.

Best RPG ever you say? I bet you are a new next gen gamer and 360 or ps3 are your first systems and you never even played a genesis or SNES, sorry but there been WAY better RPGs than these games. You kids today are so caught up in the graphics it's sad really. Don't know what a real game is.

You said it buddy. Game play is really all you need. The control is important too. But I guess he never heard of a little game called Secret of Mana. First real RPG that got my hooked, besides The legend of Zelda and A Link to the past that is. However, imho I'd say that text-based rpgs are the best. They let you use your imagination to the max and are very addictive. Today's kids have been too spoiled with graphics and have never learned that an rpg is about the feel of the game.

@F0Xhound009 As a person who has played many old RPGs, such as the original Phantasy Star Series, Final Fantasy 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, Lunar The Silver Star, Lunar Silver Star Story, Grandia, Sakura Wars, Panzer Dragoon Saga, etc. I can say the Star Ocean series is great. The Battle system is just fantastic and it's one of the few RPG series that I find myself trying to get into battles because they are so much fun. Don't jump to conclusions about graphics, some of these newer RPGs really are great.

I'm leaning towards this cause i have a 32 in HD tv, and all those colors would really rape my eyes

but the fact that the dungeons takes hours to complete, only to have a 40 minute cut-scene afterword? idk'

Dude, this game is going to be awesome so I am def gonna go pick it up but I also bought and completed Tales and it's probably one of the better RPGs I have ever played. I still havent done everything in the game and I am clocked in at 72 hours right now. Lots of replayability.

looks damn good! although... i found that in SO3 maria was a bit of a fucked up character that once you got berserk and enough mp aiming device was the only skill you needed... and energy blast was overkill... i hope mr gun guy isn't the same xD...but thats just my opinion

In some reviews I have read they didn't like the camera because you are not able to zoom out the way I think you would. That does suck, but they said you'll be able to deal with it easily.

Sure about that? White Knight Chronicles is the highest selling RPG in the current gen and Demon's Soul sold out across Japan on release day. Both PS3 exclusives. So...no, it hasn't fallen as the RPG king, lol.

o really well those games havent been released outside of japan and every rpg that is are all 360 games and for a system to be a king of a genre it has to sell well in all game markets so yes it has fallen at least for now if those games end upbeing released outside japan as a ps3 exclusive then maybe what u said would be relevant so in japan the ps3 might be rpg king but in the global market the 360 is the king

How can it be the king? I'll agree that the 360 has some cool RPG games and more than the 360, but they sell horribly worldwide (except for Tales of Vesperia in Japan and Star Ocean 4 too inevitably). I know what you're trying to state, but you can't be oblivious to actual facts.

yes 360 titles might not have massive sells outside of japan but the simple fact that the makers are taking the chance to release there games outside of japan on the 360 makes it king and at this point in time all the big name rpgs that will sell well are set as 360 exclusive or a cross platform like ff13 but the 360 hold on the title of king isnt very strong due to like u said poor sells but in my opinion the simple fact that there are more 360 rpgs released world wide makes it the current king

If that's so, then my party roster will be (once it's all done) - Edge, Reimi, Faize, Lymle, Bacchus, Meracle or Arumat, Myuria for sure!! ^^, and Sarah, only because I love Spellcasters. =D Since only 8 characters could join your roster, I will be creating multiple saved games so I can experience all of them. =) The thing I don't know is which characters will permanently join the party, and which ones will be alternative ones, like in Star Ocean 3, i.e- Nel, Abel, Peppita, and Roger.
