Has Mark gone gay?? What the hell. He sounds like a total queer in this. Not that there's anything WRONG with that. (Chill.) I'm just saying, last I heard he was happily married to the awesome Victoria Williams and now he sounds very gay. I love his music though. With and without the Jayhawks. He awesome. Cute, too. Haha.
I was notified of a reply to this old comment and thought, "Great, someone out there must know if Mark is now gay. I can now find out." Instead I see this utterly meaningless comment. Or is there some deeper, implied meaning to your words that I'm just failing to understand. Oh please, please, dear Lady, do share more of your insightful commentary with me. I feel we have the makings of a strong you-tube-comments-section-relationship.
Maybe you'll be notified of this comment as well...I thought what I said was rather succinct. Perhaps you might elucidate on your gay remark..further more I wouldn't dream of 'implying anything deeper' as you put it,I think it would be far more beneficial to you if we kept things on the vacuous level of your intial 'comment'.
EarthyPoetGrrl...I was there at his Kansas City show. I met a friend who drove down from Minnesota, we met in Des Moines and went down to KC. MARK OLSON RULES. It was worth every mile. I will always travel the distance to see this artist perform. :-D
Sorry I think his voice is very average and the guitar work is nothing special. Fair play for doing a song about sandy but reading the lyrics I'm wondering if it's about another Sandy......
I'm just wondering what kind of guitar work you expect given that it's a melancholic and fairly introspective song? Pat Metheny type jazz noodling? I think people often write into this youtube just for the sake of it regardless of whether they have anything worthwhile to say or not.
This is THE Mark Olson, of the original Jayhawks. His voice is still simply remarkable. His brand new recording, The Salvation Blues is now available. An added benefit to this fine CD is the inclusion of Gary Louris singing harmony with Mark. Their voices together are truly awesome.

Love Mark's Guild. Anyone know the model?

I'm pretty sure he's playing a D-25, probably a late 70's or early 80's model. The older Guilds are great guitars.
