Out of context of the album, this song makes absolutely no sense... especially without Goliath playing right after it. Lastly, Cedric sets the bar SO incredibly high for himself in the studio, that in a live environment the stress of hitting those notes overcomes the accuracy he portrayed in the studio. I love Volta, and this was more than I could ever imagine asking for them to do live.

I keep hearing people who like bands like King Crimson and The Mahavishnu Orchestra (two of my favorites) talk about The Mars Volta, but no matter how many times I try they still sound like complete shit. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion, just accept that these guys don't work for everyone.

I totally agree with you. Every time I see him sing live I cant stand it. The music is fantastic! But the fact that I cant understand him like I can on the records is a huge let down! I know what he is saying and I love the energy, but a little fucking clarity and attention to detail would be much appreciated.

Makes me think they revamp his voice for every album. I certainly hope not, that he just has perfect takes, but damn it makes me wonder. Cant beat the tunes though.

The Mars Volta is not a good band, they are a talented band. Just because Deantoni can play drums like an animal and the rest of the band can shred that doesn't mean their music is good. Music is supposed to be about self expression and portraying certain emotions through the art of noise, and they lack melody hardcore. Not to mention Cedrick is a pretentious douche bag who not only can't sing but is one of the shittiest most irrelevant lyricists of all time PLEASE stop drooling over this band

I believe that music is arbitrary, however. While I can't understand what others see in this band, I don't think that all of their hundreds of thousands of fans are being tricked into liking their music. I hope not, at least.
