@JRudyLove She was also such a gorgeous creature and those opinions about her came from not all her children, but I'm sure your aware of that :) xoxox
@JRudyLove Thank you for your nice comments. I wanted to show her early career so that we would be reminded of her long term popularity. Most people my age just remember the problems.
@Kievest F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote of her: "Joan Crawford is doubtless the best example of the flapper, the girl you see in smart night clubs, gowned to the apex of sophistication, toying iced glasses with a remote, faintly bitter expression, dancing deliciously, laughing a great deal, with wide, hurt eyes. Young things with a talent for living." Perhaps I emphasized her young flapper life because of that quote. Bette Davis probably said that she should have stayed in silent movies. Ha.
@CoffeeDessert Baby Jane was very popular. and many of us can remember that movie. I do not remember most of the movies that are included in the video. Of course not, because I even included some pictures from silent movies. She was in an amazing number of movies. Thank you so much for making nice comments.
@FASHIONCONSPIRACY I had not remembered that Joan was in some silent movies. I found some nice pictures for a flapper video later. Flapper is such a stupid name, but it always interested me. Thank you for your nice remarks.
@MyJustified I can mostly remember Joan Crawford from TV shows, like the Lucy Show. I do not know what really happened with her and Christina, but I know that the grownups really did like Joan. And her younger children were nicer. And her fans loved her movies. I seemed to emphasize her early movies, which included silent movies. I had fun finding these old pictures, and there is a lot more movies and leading men that I would not have had room for, Thank you for making comments!
@Dayniac4324 I could have focused on just pretty pictures of Joan, but I could not resist all of those leading men. Then I would have missed Lon Chaney's picture with the cigarette between his toes. Making videos is opportunity to learn about all of the actors. Thank you for your nice remarks. Matching up a song to a movie star can be a challenge. I hope that Joan does not mind a song from Pinocchio. Linda Ronstadt is one of my absolute favorite singers.
@Shabannie Well.... you always make a beautiful video .. no doubt about it ! I'm with you .. Linda is one of my all time favorites too. in the 70's I saw her in concert 5 or 6 times .. just love her !
Thank you for always entertaining me ... beautifully !!
@Dayniac4324 Thank you. Clark Gable still has a few more leading ladies who I will make videos for. I saw Linda in concert two times in the seventies or eighties. She was wearing the red polka dot dress in the last one.
@Shabannie She was such a great rock and folk singer and when she started doing the retro 40s with Nelson Riddle - that was just icing on the cake ! I really love all her music.
Another of your wonderfully lovely tributes. Joan Crawford was a superb actress and your video captures the scope of her marvelous career beautifully. The perfect song to go with these great images. I enjoyed this very much. All the stars and thumbs up.
Yes I don`t know anything about Joan Crawford but I do know she left an impression on hollywood because I can`t count how may times I have heard her name mentioned, and comparisons made to this timeless Artiste.
Thank you Ellen for posting this beautiful tribute to Joan Crawford. I enjoyed seeing all the great photos and it isn't till now that I'v seen your video that it looks like Joan Crawford was in some early Western Movies! She was an amazing actress! 5*****
@ebfan41 Joan Crawford was in some silent movies, which I did not know. Tim McCoy was the name of one of the cowboy actors in the video. I tried to include a lot of different leading men. There were too many to include them all. Joan must have been busy. Thank you for your nice remarks.
What a beautiful tribute to Joan, she was very lovely. She was also a great dancer. LOVE the photos, ADORE the song. Love Linda...she has a beautiful voice.
@genia106 I read that she used to enter dance contests when she was very young. I just added a Fitzgerald quote in the biography. I wanted to pick out a sweet and sentimental song for Joan. Thank you for your nice comments. She was in an amazing number of movies.
@genia106 I put Joan on my to do list when I made my early Clark Gable video. I wanted to select pictures from her early movies, when she was a popular box office draw. Thank you for watching her video again.
Wonderful tribute! I still remember film " Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?". Joan Crawford and Betty Davies. They were really great!

Ellen, your video is a 10!!! The photos are fantastic especially at
1:10, 2:16 & 3:07!! Your presentation is elegant, seamless
& professional combining music & imagery into a smart,
cohesive whole. As much as I support self determination for
women, Joan Crawford was too prickly, arrogant & abusive
to be liked or loved by the general public. She was a castrating
female rather than an evolved one. Perhaps she had to be that
way to overcome the powers that be in Hollywood.. or her excuse.
TY!

one great solid actress. her personal life was hers only - end of story.
her screen work however was for her audience and i for one respect her for that alone.
my personal favorite work of Ms. Crawford's was in "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?" amongst many others too numerous to mention in this small box.
