In the end he called himself a liar when he was speaking to Rolo. When he called himself a liar, he was referring to the part about not hating him. He still hated him, but just wanted to comfort Rolo as he died. Better to die thinking you're loved than hated.
Concerning point 2, the examples of Suzaku and Lelouch do make sense. Suzaku did have character development and changed as a person based on the things that had previously happened and what was going on around him. To stay the same all series would make his enviornment pointless.

@soulthepinkmage I don't know if you're hating on Gundam 00(don't care much for seed because it sucked and everyone knows it.)but I thought Gundam 00 was a fantastic anime and did a very good job in telling the story of each character and their experiences, and had pretty good moral to present.
Suzaku changed because it was part of Lelouch and his plan.... and after Euphie died he wanted revenge. He thought if he would of acted rather then being a goodie good he could of saved her. He finds this out at the end of season one... So he didn't really change in season two.
Although I would rate it higher than 7 more like 8 I agree with you on almost every point except that Suzaku's character development was bad. I actually thought it was clever and made sense.
Lelouche's personality change actually made sense, but some of that Geass crap was actually stupid and annoying. That one part where everyone dressed up as Zero was one of my favourites because it used Britanian laws against them which ended up with the fall of their empire which I thought was a really good idea. I strongly agree that the battles in R2 weren't as tactical as they were in R1 which dissapointed me.
nina isn't all bad why so many hate her, her obsession with euphie is similar to how i see rolo with lelouch, devoted to the point of going over the edge... she define euphie cause anyone who knew euphie would never believe she capable of murder, yes i love euphie character and if i was her friend i would be just as suspicious.
nice review although i don't totally agree, the characters changes r what made the show interesting, no one can stay consistent through out... in season 1 suzaku sold lelouch out to get a promotion cause of what happened to euphie, his old self would never have done that...in season 2 he changed his ideal cause he had no other choice, suzaku is an emotional character and is sway easily by what happened to the people around him...also rolo was dying so lelouch had to lie since he did save him.

Lelouch was regretful about trying to kill Rolo after he saw how Rolo was so desperatly trying to keep Lelouch from getting killed.Plus,the events that occured before Lelouch regained his memory included Leleouch spending time with Rolo like a real brother.So all of this sorta touched him.

I just finished watching the last episode after watching the ending of R1 and all of R2 in a single day (5AM here now), and as I take it all in, you are definitely right in alot of aspects, mainly about the sudden character changes and a dragging middle, in the end I still love this anime. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to watch it again however if only because of how mentally and emotionally impactful it was for me. I give this, an 8 out of 10

R2 was such a huge disappointment. I'm not going to discuss in detail how they managed to fuck everything up- I can make my own video if I wanted to do that. But I really liked Code Geass. It was clear they wanted to make a sequel. And then we got... this. It felt so... rushed. So disjointed. There were plot holes all over the place, and it was obvious that some executive meddling was involved here. It really is a shame that this is how the series had to go out, after the bang of Season 1.

I agree with you on a LOT of points here. I definitely prefer the first season over 2nd. I had actually never really noticed the tactics thing, but you are correct. There were times that battles were decided by the mechs rather than brain. But I thought that the Damocles battle was pretty awesome. As for the change of attitude with Lelouch to Rolo. I've never viewed Lelouch as evil and never thought he was heartless. I just sort of chalked that scene up to him telling Rolo what he wanted to...
Well a large reason why the second season was so poorly planned was because the fact that the broadcast time for R2 was changed from 12 am to 6pm, causing the writer to change many of the script, allowing younger audience to enjoy. Eventho this was a huge blow to the writer and the older audience that loved R1, R2 sure did bring in alot of younger audience, and raising it's popularity with them...It's pretty much what they did with Seed and Seed Destiny...
The first season was planned out and not rushed? I dropped it on episode 17 because of it's bad pacing, shallow characters, plot holes, and some other shit.
It was just awful, Code Geass is overrated to no limit.
Just like to say that I loved code gease season 1, but hated season 2. Some parts were cool, but around the point where Luluche and that brown hair green eye guy (sorry can't remember his name) decided to join forces, I just lost interests. I like emotional anime but I have like a border of tolerance for moe, or girly stuff, or gayness, I like more mature drawing styles like Death Note, but Code Geass drawing is good too, and a balance of male/female characters, I don't like too many females... Regarding character consistency, I disagree with your opinion.
I think that what happened in the anime actually linked together well with the actions of the characters. Lelouch treated Rolo the way he did at the end because at first, Lelouch wanted to die(he felt he had nothing to live for), this is why he told Rolo to stop using his geass. As for the Suzaku/Lelouch thing, if I'm right, in the end, Suzaku technically got his own back AND achieved peace so...
i'm not going to be a stupid fan-boy but i think it deserves a 8 period i'm not going to say it deserves a 10 or a 9 just an 8 7 means average 8 means good but not great just saying love your reviews

Some people follow the gamer magazine rating system, which makes absolutely no sense. In gaming mag terms, 7 out of 10 is average for some crazy reason. So there's good, great, excellent, and perfect. On the other end, there is bad to suck. Don't make much sense, but some people follow the thinking that 7 out of 10 is average. I follow the 5 out of 10 is average because it makes more sense to me.
Honestly, what would you say to a man who just saved your life at the cost of his own? Even if I hated that person with every atom making up my body, I wouldn't be spewing hate at him during his final moments. I don't think there was any inconsistency at all in Lelouch's character regarding Rolo. >.>

@LeoCastell4 I have never hidden the fact that I was heavily influenced by Yahtzee, especially in my early reviews but now I don't even watch ZP regularly anymore and I'm a bit confused as to how I am ripping off lines from his reviews that I don't even remember/have not even seen.
I will say that he has been doing this for a lot longer than me and has hundreds of videos, lots of which I haven't seen...so I don't try to rip him off anymore but British comedy in general is quite similar.

I am a Code Geass fanboy, it and R2 together are my favourite anime's. In my opinion this is a perfect anime, however I have no problem that you do not like R2 as much as the first. People are entitled to their own opinions and I will not be an idiot and unsubscribe because you don't share my opinion.
R2 had an epic ending, but most of the plot holes could have been easily fixed, so the middle felt like the writers had abandoned their deskes and left one of those typewriter Shakespeare monkeys in their place while they all fucked off down the pub.

The story had some plotholes.
The dialogue was just cheesy as hell.
Plot twists were mostly big ass-pulls including the ending(Although I did like lelouch's own ending)
Music was good overall, but not releasing the best tracks really pissed me off >.<
And I still can't believe Nina survived...for f***ks sake I wanted her to die...I want an r3 just to see her die xD

Lelouch was regretful about trying to kill Rolo after he saw how Rolo was so desperatly trying to keep Lelouch from getting killed.Plus,the events that occured before Lelouch regained his memory included Leleouch spending time with Rolo like a real brother.So all of this sorta touched him.

I just finished watching the last episode after watching the ending of R1 and all of R2 in a single day (5AM here now), and as I take it all in, you are definitely right in alot of aspects, mainly about the sudden character changes and a dragging middle, in the end I still love this anime. I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to watch it again however if only because of how mentally and emotionally impactful it was for me. I give this, an 8 out of 10

R2 was such a huge disappointment. I'm not going to discuss in detail how they managed to fuck everything up- I can make my own video if I wanted to do that. But I really liked Code Geass. It was clear they wanted to make a sequel. And then we got... this. It felt so... rushed. So disjointed. There were plot holes all over the place, and it was obvious that some executive meddling was involved here. It really is a shame that this is how the series had to go out, after the bang of Season 1.

I hate nina cause she's kind of racist. I mean like not for real but shes a fucking bitch being like: You're elevens *scared face but on purpose giving them virtual middle finger* you get my point. Where i disagree is the stuff about lelouch and suzaku changing. Suzaku just gets some sort of break down after fiiring the FEILA. And Lelouch was just incredibly frustrated when shouting at Rolo, yeah sure he didn't like Rolo but he really didn't hate him that much.

@mohdban No, as he says the middle part is just a storykiller. Everything about Lelouch mom was incredibly random, if they had pulled the series longer maybe they would fit some more stuff kind of getting us to understand she may would be Anya but they didn't so it really just was random.

I agree with you on a LOT of points here. I definitely prefer the first season over 2nd. I had actually never really noticed the tactics thing, but you are correct. There were times that battles were decided by the mechs rather than brain. But I thought that the Damocles battle was pretty awesome. As for the change of attitude with Lelouch to Rolo. I've never viewed Lelouch as evil and never thought he was heartless. I just sort of chalked that scene up to him telling Rolo what he wanted to...

Well a large reason why the second season was so poorly planned was because the fact that the broadcast time for R2 was changed from 12 am to 6pm, causing the writer to change many of the script, allowing younger audience to enjoy. Eventho this was a huge blow to the writer and the older audience that loved R1, R2 sure did bring in alot of younger audience, and raising it's popularity with them...It's pretty much what they did with Seed and Seed Destiny...

The first season was planned out and not rushed? I dropped it on episode 17 because of it's bad pacing, shallow characters, plot holes, and some other shit.
It was just awful, Code Geass is overrated to no limit.

Just like to say that I loved code gease season 1, but hated season 2. Some parts were cool, but around the point where Luluche and that brown hair green eye guy (sorry can't remember his name) decided to join forces, I just lost interests. Too much shit hit the fan, and just the begining of season 2 made me wanted to stop watching it. Season 1: 9/10 Season 2... just freken hated it. (can't give a # because I got half way)

I like emotional anime but I have like a border of tolerance for moe, or girly stuff, or gayness, I like more mature drawing styles like Death Note, but Code Geass drawing is good too, and a balance of male/female characters, I don't like too many females... Story + emotion matter he most, plot twists

I just realized something. Suzaku's reasoning represents the seasons.
season 1. Bad episodes leading up to a great ending is bad.
season 2. who cares about inbetween, a dazzling ending will make up for it.
On a side note, my season 2 representation reminds me of School Days.

Regarding character consistency, I disagree with your opinion.
I think that what happened in the anime actually linked together well with the actions of the characters. Lelouch treated Rolo the way he did at the end because at first, Lelouch wanted to die(he felt he had nothing to live for), this is why he told Rolo to stop using his geass. As for the Suzaku/Lelouch thing, if I'm right, in the end, Suzaku technically got his own back AND achieved peace so...

@gigguk I agree with you. R2 wasn't as good as R1. However I thought that the reason Lelouch sort of was kind to Rolo in the end was because he thought he was gonna die, and stuff. I didn't really think that Lelouch was sincere when he said "Just what I'd expect of my little brother". Anyway that's just my opinion. I thought that part made sense. But the mecha battles were annoying. I friggin hate gundam and all those stupis narute-like action animes . . .

Some people follow the gamer magazine rating system, which makes absolutely no sense. In gaming mag terms, 7 out of 10 is average for some crazy reason. So there's good, great, excellent, and perfect. On the other end, there is bad to suck. Don't make much sense, but some people follow the thinking that 7 out of 10 is average. I follow the 5 out of 10 is average because it makes more sense to me.

Honestly, what would you say to a man who just saved your life at the cost of his own? Even if I hated that person with every atom making up my body, I wouldn't be spewing hate at him during his final moments. @LeoCastell4 I have never hidden the fact that I was heavily influenced by Yahtzee, especially in my early reviews but now I don't even watch ZP regularly anymore and I'm a bit confused as to how I am ripping off lines from his reviews that I don't even remember/have not even seen.
I will say that he has been doing this for a lot longer than me and has hundreds of videos, lots of which I haven't seen...so I don't try to rip him off anymore but British comedy in general is quite similar.

Lelouch reaction to Rolo was completely the same as the audience
and Suzaku after the death of Euphemia just doesn't give a fuck anymore
and after the mindscrews he when through when up against Charles he might've gave less of a fuck
but it is the general consensus that R2 wasn't as good as R2 (in fact you gave it the most praise compared to most reviewers)

I am a Code Geass fanboy, it and R2 together are my favourite anime's. In my opinion this is a perfect anime, however I have no problem that you do not like R2 as much as the first. R2 had an epic ending, but most of the plot holes could have been easily fixed, so the middle felt like the writers had abandoned their deskes and left one of those typewriter Shakespeare monkeys in their place while they all fucked off down the pub.
