An expansion of the state's bottle bill, coupled with many other initiatives, can boost recycling and cut down on waste in the Bay State. Providing an incentive for consumers to return their beverage containers will not only increase recycling rates of these containers, but will also instill a sense of responsibility for the materials they purchase. The bottle bill will also require producers of beverage containers to recycle their materials rather than extract more natural resources.
