If there was ever a game that is deserving of a modern-day remake/sequel on a larger console that stays true to the original side-scrolling beat 'em up formula, its Double Dragon.

Why is the gameplay so slow?

You probably never played the game in the arcade then.. it always ran this slow. The hardware they used back then couldn't run so many sprites at once without slowdown.

The best fighting game ever! Double Dragon 1 for the arcade! Wish it was still around. It just wasn't the same on home video game systems.

how the hell u use the elbow??? i never could make that move when i was playing the game.....and it got me angry when i was seeing back in 1989 as i recalled, more experienced players who were crushing enemies with elbow moves!! LOOLLL

this is my favourite arcade game, not a patch on todays graphics but i could play this all day, i saw this in a pub 2 weeks before it was closing down & when i went to make him an offer for it he'd already packed up & gone :-/ i'm still looking for it though :-)

There is a convenient mart/gas station down the road from where I live. They had this game in their back hallway twenty years ago, me, my brother and the entire neighborhood would crowd to play and watch. I still go in there from time to time, can still see everyone in the hallway. Great game and great memories.

man double dragon will always be the greatest "fighting" game ever i had a discussion with my boys at the job saying this isnt classified as a fighting game but street fighter was and im street fighter copied double dragon hard esp. when ryu and ken double spinning roundhouses for 3 seconds in the air who do you think they got that from? DOUBLE DRAGON!

I always loved this game as a kid despite the poor hit detection and choppy animation...and I always lost at least two lives trying to cross that goddamn bridge too, hehe.
