Pevsner says that approaching Warkworth from the Alnwick road represents the most exciting sequence of views in England, seeing the keep of the castle rising majestically from the winding Castle Street. I agree but I don't think tears in heaven is really the most apropos song to reflect Warkworth. Perhaps 'The Wind' by Cat Stevens is better. But what do I know, I've only lived there for the last 20 years......
I LOVE seeing all the "history" from your country! As I watched, I let my mind transport me back back into time! If only those walls could talk...:-) Thank you for the tour!
Not surprised Julia - Northumberland is still the most "undiscovered" place in England. Yet it bore the brunt of so many conflicts - vikings, romans, england v scotland, english civil war - which is why we have so many castles to go with our magnificent scenery!
Im happy to live in northumberland.

I lived in the castle for a long weekend back in the mid 90's when I ran a large medieval event there. Memories, both good and bad.

Loved the tour! And the castle was open, even in February? It looks huge! I never heard of Warkworth before.
