  • @danbethel thanks dude. So I assume that after buffing the clearcoat has to be re-applied again? Won't all the buffing inflict swirl marks on the paintwork which has to be corrected? sorry i'm not a very technical person..

  • @lambo88 With the 800 grit or 1000(you have to get this at paint shops) it is so fine, it almost polishes. As long as you don't go below the clear coat, and just attack the runs, you don't need to reshoot it. Most shops do 3 or 4 coats, the more you have, the more play room you have. Bottom line, it is a take your time job, it will feel like it is taking forever, but if you take your time, it will show in the end.

  • what if the clear coat is already on?

  • @lambo88 Its the same thing with the clear, but you have to use like 800-1000 grit sandpaper, and be good at buffing either by hand or with a buffing wheel on a low variable speed grinder. You can even use the edge of a razor to shave them down, lightly sand, buff, and your done, no runs.

  • i just painted my 1954 Chevy Bel air it has some runs how long should i wate before removing the runs its around 87 to 95 degrees where i live.

  • @GGGG761 Paint flashes fast at 87-95F, so if you don't make the paint to runny, the runs shouldn't happen. I'm guessing that runs are on the side, a trick I use to avoid it, is look down the body(front to back),and paint away from your eye's direction, when you see shine, move on. Just spray off the dull finish, and move on. The temp being high, if you screw up, chances are you'll see it. It's like a puzzle, chasing the overspray, and not making it run.

  • Kinda of new at this, after you sand the area where the runs are do you need to add more paint, buff the area? what else is needed?

  • @DaAv3sPrOdiiGy You can buff it out, as long as you have enough paint on the area. If not, another coat is needed. To get a high gloss with painting, the paint has to be almost running to achieve the shine.

  • ThaNK U!.....GREAT INFO.!!!

  • 3:54--Do it nice and easy, don't push hard, you wanna go nice and easy, don't push hard, long smooth strokes. THAT JUST WHAT SHE SAID WHEN I TOOK OFF MY JEANS. LOL!!!

  • @NeatStreetRodder

Not gonna, the dude thinks SAM needs to much work to finish. In point of fact, everyone that has looked at it thinks that. I have it listed for $8,000 on craigslist, and no takers. Almost willing to give a sales fee at this point.

  • Hey Dan what a sweety.

So whats up with Joe these days? Are you guys still hanging out and what's he working on?

  • @how0will0this0end

Yes she is!!! I waaaaaaaaaaay like her.

As for Joe, he's living up in Yuba City, and I'm in Licoln Califnoria now, about 45 minutes south of where he is. He lives with his girlfriend and is working as a maintance dude for a hotel in Grass Valley, so I don't see him that much anymore. He came by the other day and got his 65', and that was the first time I had seen him in a month.
