i bet most of the guys actually know what they're talkin bout but expert villiage prolly gives them some retarted ass script and they have to saay that to keep the vids like a minute long, u think they could squeeze sum useful stuff in in a minute but nope, a dissapointment, jst let the damn guy talk and u stop writing shit about nuthin u dnt know about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if this guy has an "expert village" section on when to change your lightbulbs at home. "Well, it depends on how often you switch 'em on, how long you read at night, you know... and the tell-tale factor would be say, one evening, when you got some guests over and the light just starts to fade... change those lightbulbs."
@MultiAlien3 well you're wanting to get the most out of your amp with out spending alot of money and at the same time you want to make sure you take it to a really good tube amp tech. I wouldn't keep it at 50watts for long it could create a power failure in your transformer thats money you don't want to spend. if the amp is designed for 100 watts of power thats the way you better run it if you want to keep the amp running great for its life time. so new tube's and let a tech bias it.
Well you see, a getar is a musical introment that need to be louder which is why we invented the amplifier. You might need to buy a new amp every year or so instead of changing out those old vacuum tubes. Im an expert hope this video help you!
ok these people need help.. i'v been playing aggressively on tube amps for around 7 years and i find that you have to change tube's about every 2 and ahalf years if you play regularly like 2 or 3 times aweek... but have your tube amp serviced by a certified tech every year. A CERTIFIED TECH not your older brother or some loopy music store clerk. interview the person who's about to crack open your amp ok!! seriously people will say they can work on an amp just to get your money and not know crap
ugh...what a dickcheese.lemme give some better advice. You use your amp 4 days outta the week at high volumes and play show, change your power tubes after about 6 months. Stretching it to a year is a little risky, I'd rather not have my amp fry out on stage. Pre-amp tubes take the least amount of abuse so those can go for a year before a change. The guy covered the basics but...still...what a dumbass.
you think you can help me then? ok well im 14 and i wanna buy a marshall dsl, and i play in my bedroom not at very high levels i occoasionally jam with some people at higher levels but not often, how often would i have to change the tubes? since this guys a *dumbass* lol i need help! please and thanks
about every year. and, one i would advise not to waste your money on such a wonderful amp if your just going to be jammin in your room, two, since your not gigging you have no reason to need a brand new sounding amp all the time so dont bother with tubes for like a year or two... no offense
just take it to a certified amp tech once a year unless something goes wrong with it in the mean time alot of things can go wrong with a tube i have a dsl too. dont change your amp tubes yourself because you have to bias them everytime you change them which is a technical lil proccess you'll need to get a certified tech to do it and ussually he'll find something that needs changed besides the tubes most the time. and it ussually cost's around $70 to$80 bucks unless you blow out power transformer
thank you very much fo this i just bought a 100 watt dsl... can't wait to get it... do you know any like tips or secrets that you can do to it to get like more gain or anyhting cuz i know you can do alot to a jcm 800 and a few things to the 900 but i know of nothing for the jcm 2000. and what tube bran would you suggest would be the best for my monster????
there's alot of info to give on this but i'll keep it short. you don't have to modify these jcm2000's to make them screem honestly but if i was going to dumb some money into one right off the bat i would just have it "biased" by a good tech and have him inspect it, and have him check all the tubes there might be a weak tube if so have them all replaced because just changing one tube out makes it sound a lil off. i prefer specificaly "JJ tesla E34L's" then just dial in you're desired tone.glucK!
WOW. Really expert village? so YOURE saying, that when im playing and the thing making the noise stops making noise, i should change my tubes?..really? that's amazing, im so glad there's an expert out there to explain this incredibly complex concept, so far over the head of me- the layman musician- whatever would i do without this 20 second worthless peice of shit video to tell me what to do? JESUS. what a waste of time. i dont care what studio this guy works at...this vid sucks. period.

Well the 6V6s in my amplifier at home have been in it for 40 years, they were not new when they got put into it!
But in fairness it is used rarely. The lifespan is massively affected by a number of factors, guitar amplifiers tend to have a tough life.....

My preamtubes are 40 years and older. They do a better job than any newly produced tube. And they last longer :/
Don't change your preamp tubes each year. It's not necessary. They last decades...
My age-old EL84s from hungary and germany sound way better than this ugly chinese stuff although they look so destroyed. Why should i change them?
Tubes can always blow during a gig. I change my tubes when the sound really turns bad...
Don't waste your money guys...
