  • 28 people feel like in some other year

  • What utter shit Andrew Eldritch really is a pathetic cunt

  • @FFF6663 - I think it's a major case of the pot calling the kettle black. You really do like proving to the world that you're a prat. Go find a mirror and amuse yourself.

  • Love Sisters of Mercy!

  • This shit aint dark. LIstent to some industrial/ambient. now that's dark. This is just romantic and sad. I used to listen to goth but then I heard Industrial and said fuck this shit.

  • v nice

  • Once again gave me chills, I love listening to this song. Now I understand why Dreadful Shadows and personally Sven sings with his voice...just like him.

  • This is the greatest band ever and the most sincere and dark song i ever heard

  • Stunning and mournful from one of the gr8test bands ever

  • my mum named me after the >isabelle< in this song

  • @DarkRomanceRose Um...yeah...Isabelle in the song was one of his prostitutes in Hamburg. Sorry to tell you.

  • @jootoob1000 gues what ^^ I still love this name and the association with this song (and andrew...)

  • @jootoob1000 Well appearantly she was a damn nice prostitute since he decided to mention her in a song.

  • @MaryTheSurrealist I'm sure she was great. I was just mentioning that to DarkRomanceRose since apparently her mom named her after a prostitute, and I thought that was a bit cruel, although I think Andrew himself would be rather pleased.

  • @jootoob1000 Yes, I saw what you answered to. Still, prostitutes are people too. But I can see the irony in it... :]

  • @MaryTheSurrealist It's not quite irony. And prostitutes are not quite people, not like your mum or your sister. In fact I'm off to abuse a prostitute this very night, but I don't go in there treating her like a person. : )

  • @jootoob1000 Some view of other people you have :I

  • And I was born 13 days after Andrew Eldritch. Loved this song since first hearing it!

  • so beautiful

  • Andrew Eldritch (born Andrew William Harvey Taylor, 15 May 1959

  • This song makes me think of the day my daughter was born...I love it...

  • darker than an 80% cocoa chocolate bar.

  • @GodOvEpicness Have you ever tried Ugandan chocolate? That stuff is the darkest chocolate ever. It's also the best you'll ever have. It has this bitter, earthy, even slightly sour taste. Simply divine. Try it man. Well, if you can find it. Sometimes they sell it at Walmart, but usually it's crap when you buy it from there.

  • My god what a song.

  • i love this song reminds me of being a teen again some of the best times of my life beautiful song beautiful memories

  • Yes, a tribute to the year the world achieved ME!!! (unlike that Iggy Pop song 1969!)

  • 1959 was the year Eldritch was born.

    Possible explanation?

  • 1959 was the year the US lost their 'innocence' per se..

  • I can't find sheets to this song :(

  • Does anyone know that significance of the 1959 reference?

  • @kermit9978 dunno, but im guessing it was when he was born

  • @kermit9978 it's the year he was born

  • The Sisters Of Mercy and Big Country - best 2 bands ever to go onto a rock stage. Brilliant track, brilliant band!

  • Good year :-)

  • close your eyes and just float with the music

    :)

  • Yes one of there best!

  • One of the best sisters songs ever!!!!

  • Vou dizer uma coisa: Sister of Mercy é um paradigma gótico. todos imitam, tentam, poucos conseguem aproximar da perfeição.

  • i love the way he plays the piano

  • los pelos de punta, sin comentarios

  • dude wears his sunglasses at night

  • @br1ttyp00 cuz he is blind.

  • @jeremic88 lol, thanks capt obvious.

  • je trouve sa énorme JADORE....c'est un chanson qui me remut tous mes sentiment quand je l'ecoute...=)...=P

  • Music for bad days, evrytime

  • I love his deep voice and honestly there are also other singers with low voices I love to listen to. Take Leonard Cohen as an example. The feeling that I get when I hear this is indescribable. But when Andrew Eldritch sings with deep emotions right from his heart. The very special song from him that makes my heart beat very fast is 'Some kind of stranger'. With this song he definitely stole my heart.

  • I'm 28 right now and I was 12 when I heard TSOM for the first time. I had to get used a little bit to this band, but I was very fast captivated by his amazing voice. He remained my favourite singer all the time. I've been on a concert in Amsterdam a few years ago. It was sad that there were a lot of goths. (he seems to not to like real goths that much) and also sad to realize that I belonged to the few people who really came to see especially this band. The 'others' came for just a nice evening.

  • What happened to Patricia 0_o

  • @Parabellum13X She left, joined the damned, married dave vanian, had a daughter...

  • This just makes me want to travel back in time, so I don't have to listen to any of the main stream shit, and be able to listen to this with out being called 'weird'.

    <3

  • @UchihaFan182 - There's something to be said about those who enjoy the music they do, without listening to what everyone else does. Don't sweat it.

  • they are legend...

Being weird is all that it is about... because normal sucks "lady gaga's" balls:D

  • @UchihaFan182 i understand you.....

i've been called "weird" for liking non-mainstream music :/

  • @UchihaFan182 Sorry to break it to you, but we were "weird" for being into this music back then, too. It's okay, though, just take it as a compliment. :)

  • @spancks was going to say the same. It wasn't exactly the usual :). Just a little more so than now.

  • @UchihaFan182

Sometimes, I feel that way. Change it, man. It's your world now; no, it ain't easy, but make it the world you want to live in.

  • @UchihaFan182 Wait a second, wouldn't that make it mainstream?

  • I agree so much.

  • 1959 - great Song

  • The Sisters will always be beter than any of you weenies could ever imagine being. Tosser twats.

  • why cant the music that my generation listens to be like this......

  • @heavymetal4lifez I often wonder the same thing.

  • i think this is the best song he had ever done

  • Truly a masterpiece by Jim Steinman

  • It is truly scary how good the Sisters were. The newer songs like Suzanne and Summer are brilliant too, still praying for a new album.

I'm so tempted to go and see them in Leamington Spa in August, fair old round trip from Glasgow though.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video...

Im going to see them in leeds tomorrow man Im travelling down from glasgow as well lol A long trip but worth it lol

  • it's sad and beautiful

  • this is so beautiful that is scary <3

  • Not bad for music written during the "big hair" era. Viva l' Sisters! If more people listened to this when it came out, we probably wouldn't have to be plagued with reunions of Poison and all the other crap metal from the 80's/90's

  • He has a nose that Michael Jackson would have died for.

  • @CupofCloud Do you think that was his last thought?:)

  • this song rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1959 was the year Andrew Eldritch was born. I'm sure this song was hugely significant to him.

  • @sugarandspice4815 I've wondered why he picked 1959 for about 20 years now. I discovered em when I was 16 and have listened to floodland ever since. awesome, thanks.

  • @thecryptkicker5 ** He was born in 1959.

  • @sugarandspice4815 Brilliant, real name Taylor...Now look up the word Eldritch....all will become clear...
