  • The best of Ministry

  • Hey guys, anyone know where I can find the interview where Al is wearing some army jacket of the sort, it is around Twitch era, roughly? It was on youtube briefly, but the vid disappeared shortly after. Anyone? At one point he was asked about... I think either influences or bands he was into at the time, but Al refused to respond directly, last I recall... something like that.

  • @MrMono I know that video but I can't find it too. I guess it will be reuploaded, because this isn't the only time the video disappeared. Al was talking about how he was forced to do poppy music by Arista ,about Twitch and about Revolting Cocks.

  • I prefer this Ministry. Metal is boring, predictable and such a pain to the ear.

  • lemon madness!!!

  • 14 people didn't read the paper from the front page to the back page.

  • The best ministry Synt Pop

  • Reminds off DM's get the balance right videoclip.

  • Anyone know what amusement park this was shot at?

  • from pop to metal!!! i like the metal style better of ministry!

  • I will always love Ministry no matter what

  • wow and i thought Ministry was only a 90s band well shows what i know. but damn does this make me like them a whole lot more!!!

  • this is not cheesy, it's great, here you can actually hear the beginnings of industrial rock in the american way. i don't know why they didn't continue to do stuff like this...

  • perfect.

  • Nice... lyrics.................. :D

  • Ministy was super awesome at everything they've done, even if it was synth pop.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • I swear I owned a shirt exactly like that :P

  • Please take me back to the eighties!!

  • Este tema me vuela la capota!

  • I am so grateful that these people spent so much time and energy, devoting the greater portion of their lives to write, perform and record this kind of music. If I had one wish it would be to go back in time to the late 70's early 80's and travel and dance to this music when it was coming out.

  • @erreur I'm totally with you on that one.....

  • Freekin brilliant!

  • i wonder what he thinks when

Al watches this vid, or the type of music he created back then

  • Al used to be soooo hot! Before the cowboy hats and drugs took over :/

  • i can't believe ministry started out with this type of music! when i first heard them they came out with psalm 69

  • I love the lesbo's making out in this video...funny that would've been pretty edgy back in '82

  • There first big hit to really break out of Chicago, I believe, this was recorded in 81 and the promo video released in 82

  • @innerartdotnet as far as you know, was this ever officially released? you seem to have a good knowledge of ministry, so i thought i would ask.

  • @gangrel2001 It was a promotional video, paid out of pocket by the band when they were shopping themselves to big record labels. VHS videos still exist, I have one. Bought it from ebay, and it was bought at a Ministry show in Chicago long ago.

  • There first big hit to really break out of Chicago, I believe

  • ...the best ministry song ever... LOL. No seriously, this is great, for so many reasons. Even here, Al is totally original, and totally counterculture. ...well, at least his music is. Too bad he's wandered away from the voluntaryist philosophy of "Apathy" into Obamaland (and all the mindless prohibitionism that that entails)

  • Me and my mate or friend walked up to a cop and did 1:54 to !;56 he just looked at us with this bewildered lool and said "the Mental hospital needs it patients back ok guys" . HA HA HA LOL

  • @ TimeWarpInDenton I am there man I have the cassette and huge boombox from the 80's.

  • How the fuck could you not release this song????

  • @prophetate

    sayin.

  • i wish ministry made more music like this

  • Al is such a cutie....even to this day!!

  • It would have been interesting if Al had been able to do a kinda synthy, kind of dark album like he originally planned to do.

This isn't bad at all. I do see why Al wants to forget With Sympathy even happened.

  • this is amazing haha.

  • Look closely in the background. The record company bosses wagging their fingers at Al to keep dancing, with their briefcases of money and hired thugs. It's obvious Al is just hating all this new wave madness, when all he wants to do is go metal. I feel your pain buddy. That really sucks you gotta wear that zipper covered leather cop outfit. Hey at least the song is not Beat It.

  • @Locust1313 Actually, this is before he had a major label deal. Al's look kept evolving quickly in those days. He flirted with the New Romantic look but with an edge, then was off to something else.

  • @Locust1313

Are you serious? Al was in love with this shit. The very first releases on Wax Trax were remixes to With Sympathy. Don't believe that bullshit story that he didn't write any of this. His name is on every song, along with the remixes and demos that he released on Wax Trax. Go listen to 12 Inch Singles, which were all out takes and songs written during this era. he don't hate this shit, he secretly is in love with this record

  • @LivingWorstNightmare Yeah I bet.

  • Comment removed

  • @LivingWorstNightmare @LivingWorstNightmare I am publicly in love with this record. Their synth stuff was so much better.

  • good vid..i love old ministry dark spooky sex new wave...later material after psalm 69..is too heavy metal..

  • @meowman001 agreed

  • look at him dance!!!!! i love it.

  • Dziękuję za piękny teledysk :)

Serdecznie Cię pozdrawiam życząc radosnego dnia :)

    Marysia

  • ministry always had a potent beat even before their guitar days

  • Good old times!

  • goil goil :))

  • I was like wow, this was Ministry, not a bad song though

  • industrial legacy Vol. 6 .....Im so glad I get to listen to this in my car.....Yay for downloads

  • Al Jourgensen was so hot back then...I guess the drugs and drinkng did a toll on him now. I do however love this song and video though.

  • LOL ROFL LMAO I luv the drummers poet shirt!!!!!!!!!

  • Much darker then what he did a couple years later.

Al should re-master this track, it's really cool and doesn't sound alot like with sympathy. The vocals are much more along the lines of twitch. Kind of angry which is what his vocals are known for.

  • I only wish my music were this good. This style and sound needs to come back. Thanks for showing us how it's done, Al/Ministry!

  • electro-wave

  • i can't believe this is not in any of their albums, one of the best songs of ministry. Thanks for the upload.

  • agreed 100% a little dated but the vocals are awesome.

  • Al Jourgensen looked and sounded like Steve Strange (Visage). Both were great ...

  • you dont even know what your talking about.

  • crucial moment at 2:36.

  • Comment removed

  • @batsinmybed ABSOLUTELY. also at 1:54...

  • @roxyepoxy1988 AGREED!!!! HAHA

  • when the record company wrote it and al wasnt allowed to do what he wanted to do

  • Comment removed

  • find it funny this is before al could write his own music

  • Comment removed

  • @slayerbloke00 - "find it funny this is before al could write his own music" I'm not too positive this is a fact actually. This isn't radio friendly music that the label wanted. This is darker stuff along the lines of "Everyday is Halloween" and "All Day" etc. From my recollection this video was made in 82 roughly to get record labels' attention. I don't believe they were signed yet. The song was done in 81 I think.. or early 82. This was before 83' (With Sympathy era) and whatnot.

  • @MrMono S This was shot May 1982.

  • @MrMono This was done in May of '82.

  • I have become addicted to the synth in this song. Reminds me of old Mega Man music.

  • Great sounds of 80 ´s - They ´ll be back :-)

  • westeh: Acting like "a fag" I would take any day compared to your "acting like a bigoted moron" 8)

  • Naw, Im just not a close minded little buttfucker who thinks everybody has to be like me and like what I like. Taste is subjective. That you seem to be obsessed with homosexuality says more about you than anyone else.

  • From your childish attempts at insulting me I am guessing you are around 40, american male.

  • Why do you feel like your sexuality is under threat by the way others dress? Latent much?

  • I do not feel threatened by how others dress unlike you I don't feel threatened by what I do not understand or fear but I will tell you something if I do not like it, well guess what ? .... I will say so

  • Nice moves Al, you go girl

  • 1:53 - the best moment in the video, makes me laugh every time

  • you mean when they turn around like models XD it's amazing haha

  • @agnostik1 HA me too

  • @agnostik1 mine too. one has to have a certain sense of humor to get that

  • @agnostik1

LOL! yes! the head spin! hahaha oh Al.

  • @agnostik1

    2:37 is hilarious too :P

  • @agnostik1 haha, Agree! Still a great sond tough!

  • Love this song, but about 99.9% of Ministry is very sweet!!! Been a fan of Al's sense I was a kid sense my dad listend to this back in the 80's, driving around with me in a car seat.

  • Wow, what a cool early Ministry song. Reminds me of their track "I'm Falling". I just found this track on a 2x12" LP called I'm A Cult Hero on Living Legends label. Awesome to see that a video was made for this track!

  • @roscoe91104 It was recorded around the same time.

  • boy oh boy

Al looks like the lovechild of Rob Halford & Dave Vanian in this video

  • It must be awesome to see him perform this song with the same gesture he used back then. I'd pay a million dollar for this.

  • hahahah so would i! he's like a sleek cat! wearing the same hat he always does though!!!

  • And if that time comes "Yeah Al......you need to cut your hair and get yerself a shave."

  • Steve Strange meets DAF!

  • spot-on :-)

  • that bassline sounds a lot like DAF ! (which is a good thing of course)

  • This song appears on VA I'm A Cult Hero LP

  • LOL! i didn't even know this existed till now! i don't think it's on any cd?

  • It's for sure on vinyl. I have a copy of the 2x12" vinyl called I'm A Cult Hero. There's copies circuclating ebay and various websites.

  • do want!

  • I love Uncle Al's early stuff, even though he doesn't even consider it part of his catalogue.

  • Is that Madonna?!!?? (3:07)

  • Comment removed

  • @trollcrusher242 No, it was before he met her. She was one of the girls from the club scene. Trying to remember her name.

  • This song is included in the "Industrial Legacy vol. 6" comp. Use soulseek and do a search for it.

  • Al and Ministry rock under all genres...artists evolve. I'm not gay!

  • Don't you mean "I I I I'm not gay"?

Love the new wave Al shit. Don't see why he's so embarrassed by it.

  • I'd say he means that he really is, he's just a bit repressed.

  • Is it available on LP or CD? Cassette?

  • It doesn't deny the fact that he was a fan of new wave synth music, and he did write /collaborate these songs.

  • really enjoyed this crazy old synth music.such a far cry from the mind is a terrible thing to taste or the last sucker

  • best song from ministry synthpop era !

  • What about 'Revenge' or 'Work for Love'?

    Those songs are outsanding!

  • Revenge is not bad, but frankly, Same Old Madness is the only one I really like in this era. Of course, All Day is way better, but it's already less synthpop.

  • Agreed. Rumor has it this was supposed to be the vibe for With Sympathy until the label turned it into a freestyle album. Don't get me wrong I love with Sympathy but if I could have an album with more songs like this ...

  • Hard to believe Al Jourgensen used to sound and look like that. I love the Ministry classics like Psalm 69 and The mind albums, but this is still very good. Twitch is one of their best albums too, they had a great dance sound.

  • What the fuck are you talkin' about 'Poor Old Jourgensen'?

    Everyone evolves, bro.

  • yeah, but this isnt what he wanted to do. The record company forced him to do this stuff.

  • damn man, thank you for posting!

  • this is probably the greatest song of all time.

  • It is pretty damn good, I'm not sure I totally agree but I do have to think about it first.

  • Between 1:54 and 1:56 I wanna get someone to walk around town with me and do that with a boombox blaring this song, like walk up to a mailbox or something retarded like that haha.

You notice Al's friend to the left of him just does nothing but follow him HAHA I don't understand it thats why it's so great!

  • Comment removed

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA. back in the late 90s we did that, but not to a mail box. we were blairing a boom box playing industrial music going down the street to a coffe shop, all at the same time dancing all petarded and stuff. you had to been their. HAHAHA.

  • @TimeWarpInDenton

    BWAH HA HA! I'm there

  • This song goes nicely with Visage's "Fade to Gray". Al almost has some new romantic steez in this video too.

  • I'd love to hear the demo they did of Roxy Music's "Same Old Scene"! Heard it was ultra-lite synth stuff.

  • That doesnt mean I'm dogging the music or putting down anyone who enjoys it.

  • input from what record label? this track was never released

  • True, but they don't make music videos for songs that never get released. And this sounds a lot more produced than the stuff he did prior to "with sympathy".

I'd really like to hear the stories behind some of these great unreleased songs one day.

  • sweet carousel!

  • i think they played this in FERRIS BULLER's day off????????????

  • Viva New Wave!!! Ministry rulez!!! Gary Numan rulez!!! Lene Lovich rulez!!! Anne Clark rulez!!! Clan of Xymox rulez!!! Sique Sique Spudnik rulez!!!

  • THANKS for this rare Video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still fanstatic...way ahead of their time!

  • Back when he was still going by his full name, Alain Jourgensen.

  • weird song... very influenced by DAF in some way. and its true, it was never released!

  • wow I just said a similar comment in the other video of this song! :) I definitely hear Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF)

  • This was the olnly song I thought was any good during his dance era pre 12 inch Singles/Twitch

  • I think it's from their first album "With Sympathy"

I just started listening to them. It's incredible how they changed during the years. I personally prefer the early Ministry but they have alot of great stuff from later when they went Industrial, "Thieves" and "So What" are my favourites now.

  • This is great!!! Has someone a mp3????????

  • this shits badass andthere industrial too idkway anyone would dis this

  • al is looking gorgeous, and this song is fuckin incredible

  • feck off idjit.

  • Exhilarating, edgy and wryly comic clip. I love it, this is the ministry that will last.

  • sorry man but this is ministry...live with it

  • I've been trying to cross reference this with discographies. Was this track pressed on anything?

  • I believe Al pulled it before it could be pressed, although I could be wrong. It was played live.

  • I believe this is an unreleased track, for our misery :(

that's what I read in a discography when I was trying to find this one too

  • Leaving what I said a few weeks ago aside....I do like the video. It's a shit world out there but all we want to do is have some fun.

  • i think al looks rather hot in that cop hat.

  • you would.

  • damn straight.

  • Nice song, never do I ever want to hear his garbage industrial metal piece of shit. Why did Al do that in the first place?

  • love this song, thanx for sharing!

  • I guess AL signed with a major label in 81, he said he was 19, so he would be 46 or 47.

not if he signed to a major label in 82 then he would be 45 or 46.

I tend to think he's 46 because he still look very young, white pale skin, no wrinkles. if he'd ditch his current mop hair and got a little sun he'd look better.

  • he was born in october 1958

  • incorrect. actually 1962. about the same age as dave gahan of depeche mode.
