Hey guys, anyone know where I can find the interview where Al is wearing some army jacket of the sort, it is around Twitch era, roughly? It was on youtube briefly, but the vid disappeared shortly after. Anyone? At one point he was asked about... I think either influences or bands he was into at the time, but Al refused to respond directly, last I recall... something like that.
@MrMono I know that video but I can't find it too. I guess it will be reuploaded, because this isn't the only time the video disappeared. Al was talking about how he was forced to do poppy music by Arista ,about Twitch and about Revolting Cocks.
this is not cheesy, it's great, here you can actually hear the beginnings of industrial rock in the american way. i don't know why they didn't continue to do stuff like this...
I am so grateful that these people spent so much time and energy, devoting the greater portion of their lives to write, perform and record this kind of music. If I had one wish it would be to go back in time to the late 70's early 80's and travel and dance to this music when it was coming out.
@gangrel2001 It was a promotional video, paid out of pocket by the band when they were shopping themselves to big record labels. VHS videos still exist, I have one. Bought it from ebay, and it was bought at a Ministry show in Chicago long ago.
...the best ministry song ever... LOL. No seriously, this is great, for so many reasons. Even here, Al is totally original, and totally counterculture. ...well, at least his music is. Too bad he's wandered away from the voluntaryist philosophy of "Apathy" into Obamaland (and all the mindless prohibitionism that that entails)
this is Ministry I love...Gothy synth-pop, baby! Wish Uncle Al would release a compilation disc of all Nuwave stuff & I mean "ALL" the synthy nuwave stuff he did back in late 70s & throughout entire 80s decade. Singles, unreleased cuts, Live versions, Bootlegs, Rare studio Trax, Demo Versions, throw away Trax, everything mutha fucka!
Me and my mate or friend walked up to a cop and did 1:54 to !;56 he just looked at us with this bewildered lool and said "the Mental hospital needs it patients back ok guys" . HA HA HA LOL
Look closely in the background. The record company bosses wagging their fingers at Al to keep dancing, with their briefcases of money and hired thugs. It's obvious Al is just hating all this new wave madness, when all he wants to do is go metal. I feel your pain buddy. That really sucks you gotta wear that zipper covered leather cop outfit. Hey at least the song is not Beat It.
@Locust1313 Actually, this is before he had a major label deal. Al's look kept evolving quickly in those days. He flirted with the New Romantic look but with an edge, then was off to something else.
Are you serious? Al was in love with this shit. The very first releases on Wax Trax were remixes to With Sympathy. Don't believe that bullshit story that he didn't write any of this. His name is on every song, along with the remixes and demos that he released on Wax Trax. Excellent video and very good performance! It very beautiful music! Very well made song, and very nice voice!!! Thank you a lot for sharing your nice video!
Much darker then what he did a couple years later.
Al should re-master this track, it's really cool and doesn't sound alot like with sympathy. The vocals are much more along the lines of twitch. Kind of angry which is what his vocals are known for.
@slayerbloke00 - "when the record company wrote it and al wasnt allowed to do what he wanted to do"
Remember: Ministry was suppose to be able to write their *own* music (that's what most bands do :p ), with some sort of following, before labels could sign them and turn them into what they wanted to sell. That's how certain labels and labels of today work. Not sure why people find it hard to believe Al use to be more into synth stuff. People change.
@slayerbloke00 - "find it funny this is before al could write his own music" I'm not too positive this is a fact actually. This isn't radio friendly music that the label wanted. This is darker stuff along the lines of "Everyday is Halloween" and "All Day" etc. From my recollection this video was made in 82 roughly to get record labels' attention. I don't believe they were signed yet. The song was done in 81 I think.. or early 82. This was before 83' (With Sympathy era) and whatnot.

Love this song, but about 99.9% of Ministry is very sweet!!! Been a fan of Al's sense I was a kid sense my dad listend to this back in the 80's, driving around with me in a car seat.
Wow, what a cool early Ministry song. Reminds me of their track "I'm Falling". I just found this track on a 2x12" LP called I'm A Cult Hero on Living Legends label. Awesome to see that a video was made for this track!
Revenge is not bad, but frankly, Same Old Madness is the only one I really like in this era. Of course, All Day is way better, but it's already less synthpop.

Hard to believe Al Jourgensen used to sound and look like that. I love the Ministry classics like Psalm 69 and The mind albums, but this is still very good. Twitch is one of their best albums too, they had a great dance sound.

As much as I love the song....this video must be the turning point for Al.....I mean, a carnival and he's dressed like an extra from the Village People?
I guess AL signed with a major label in 81, he said he was 19, so he would be 46 or 47.
not if he signed to a major label in 82 then he would be 45 or 46.
I tend to think he's 46 because he still look very young, white pale skin, no wrinkles. if he'd ditch his current mop hair and got a little sun he'd look better.

I've been trying to cross reference this with discographies. Was this track pressed on anything?
tschak909 3 years ago
I believe Al pulled it before it could be pressed, although I could be wrong. It was played live.

I believe this is an unreleased track, for our misery :(
that's what I read in a discography when I was trying to find this one too

As much as I love the song....this video must be the turning point for Al.....I mean, a carnival and he's dressed like an extra from the Village People?

Nice song, never do I ever want to hear his garbage industrial metal piece of shit. Why did Al do that in the first place?

I guess AL signed with a major label in 81, he said he was 19, so he would be 46 or 47.
not if he signed to a major label in 82 then he would be 45 or 46.
I tend to think he's 46 because he still look very young, white pale skin, no wrinkles. if he'd ditch his current mop hair and got a little sun he'd look better.
