I used own this game on snes console. And there is one more game where you can other game character to defeat the cpu game character. My favourite snes game character is mr karate. Those who play this game will know.Mr karate energy bar recover very fast.
I am 33 and i remember this game i was in love with it i couldn't get enough of it then i bought it for the snes and god what a mistake that was the graphics really didnt hold up that well on the snes not to mention a cheesy musical score.
Neo geo... Yea its way better in everyway..im 26 now..but as a kid I never saw a neo geo in my fuckin life.in a home...200 per game in the 90s is a fucking outrage..games in 5 more years wont be that much
Both were 16 bit systems and were released around the same time, but the neo-geo had way more memory almost tenfold of that of the snes, thus explaining the $200 cartridges.
Probably. I know Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia crammed in 48 Mbits of memory for those games, and if you play them on emulators they *almost* look like early playstation 2d RPGs.
I agree, and Tales of Phantasia with the English patch actually contains 64 megs in the rom.
Do you think it might have been possible for them to cram 64 or even 128 megs into the SNES carts?
More available memory prolly could've allowed for better arcade-to home ports of some Neo Geo games (larger sprites/more voices), but what I suspect that was really holding the SNES back was the lack of having enough processor speed to handle all those megs if the carts had been that huge.
I know that SNES carts typically max out at 48 megs, but look at how the Neo Geo started using 'bank switching' in the late 90's to cram WAY more than just 330 megs into their games.
Being an old-school SNES fan, I've always speculated whether or not they could've gotten more megs into the carts and made better fighting games or longer RPGs.
@MrAlexdesousa The main difference between the Arcade in those days as I can remember was the size of the sprites and details in the characters. None of the games were ports they had to be converted over to consoles so they looked like the Arcade versions but the Snes couldn't handle a direct port it just wasn't powerful enough. Ah was I find all this comparison between Arcade and home consoles pointless sure the ports were good but you was never going to have the same experience as the Arcade
sorry, but its not even close. good game but the neo geo version is much better. sounds are awesome. sprites are gigantic, backgrounds way more detailes and so on. and the sega version has no zoom effekt i think.
Actually, the Genesis version was OK because it had slightly more detailed graphics and much faster gameplay, it also even plays alot more like Fatal Fury 2 than I can remember.
If only the sprites were just a little bigger, then the Genesis version would have been a very good port.
Take a look at 1.48 when Jack gets kicked in the stomach. Why would anyone turn their head back if they get kicked in the stomach. I would most probably bent over, while holding my belly, cause of the pain. Boy, I love game logic and this game also.
The neo could do arcade perfect conversions of Mortal kombat and 2. The snes version of MK2 is fantastic even today, and the Neo is much more powerful than the SNES. Also, cart size wouldnt hold back a Neo geo game, the snes had to lose out on some graghic quality alot due to small cart sizes so the game wouldnt be to expensive...SNK didnt give a shit if thier game cost $200.
This should be a no brainer. NEO-GEO version is the clear winner, but you also need some deep pockets. The console is the same as the arcade hardware and their carts are expensive as hell.
@NeilsShoe Not true the Snes had Mode 7 which the Neo Geo didn't have. While many seem to be against mode 7 I find driving games that didn't have Mode 7 to be like driving on straight roads which was a Snes hardware special effect. But what is the point in really comparing ? The Neo Geo was an Arcade with an Arcade price tag to match the NEO GEO was and still is simply out of reach for most gamers including myself.
Of course the Neo-Geo (arcade) version was superior, but on the other hand, considering the SNES technical limitations, Takara had done a good job porting this game (they could keep many features).
Yeah, those were the ONLY two things which made the SNES version stand out from the Neo Geo version. The Neo Geo version definitely tops the SNES/Genesis versions. If the Neo Geo version were to have those two things of what you mentioned that the SNES version had, the Neo Geo version would be absolutely perfect.
That fucking reverb on the SNES one...

@MrDogatlarge Neo Geo games were $200 to $250 not $400+. Snes games were $50-$70.

Of course Neo Geo every single time, it's perfect 110% because it's the authentic original arcade version, Lol...can't get more perfect than that.

One advantage the SNES version had over the Neo-Geo was an extended ending and each character had a Desperation Attack.
