You find melon seeds in caves / abandoned mineshafts. They should add melons into the swamp or jungle biome... It would sorta make sense.

From what I've heard jungle biomes only spawn in new worlds of that "version". Also melon seeds can only be found in chests from strongholds, dungeons and mineshafts.
