@Underfootman I think a lot of the best Simpsons writers left for Futurama when it came around. And Futurama's premise just allows for a lot more variety.
Fox has Bill O'Reilly, Glee, Fringe and many aweful shows in my opinion. The only shows that make sence to me is House MD and The Simpsons; and out of those, only The Simpsons show stand out as an icon of great tv. And now it's going away due to Fox' demand. Network channels are nothing but reality shows, talk shows, and shitty sitcoms. I haven't gone that low on my channel list for over a decade. Problem is cable/sat channels are cramming in more and more reality shows too and it's driving me nuts. No I don't want to see the drama of a father and son in the logging industry.

It would bring in ratings if they would make it so you could actually view more than 3 episodes on Hulu... why not air full seasons on Youtube, Hulu, Netflix, etc.. and just make it ad supported. Cable TV is a dying medium as the Internet takes over... there really is no reason why they can't adapt... many shows do and are thriving... Fox is just being stubborn, they are doing the same thing with Futurama and it too will likely be cancelled again for the same stupidity of Fox.

I hate people who say the show started to suck over 10 years ago. I think many of those people just idealize the past. The show is still funny, probably a little decline in the last couple years but their is still lots of funny parts. It's hard to make so many shows.

The topical and historical references are still funny, and if you don't see that, you just don't get the joke.

Unless you're counting in terms of the number of calendar decades that the simpsons has ran in, in which case you'd have to include the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and this decade... which would be four. The Simpsons became irrelevant once Southpark hit town. Come to think of it, im finding family guy less and less funny also :( Southpark still remains the funnier of all of them. Okay last sunday I was sad about the simpsons ending but i was getting to accept it (the show has been around longer than ive been alive course i want to keep it) but when I saw that last episode with the seals it is the 1st episode of the series that i claimed SUCKED! Excusable for jumping the shark a bit or getting some closure out there for a final season but to keep it like this much longer.... its freaking frustrating

The major reason why The Simpsons isn't pulling in the same amount of money isn't because there are a million other shows to watch. That might be a little bit of the problem but let's face it, people are bored with it after 2 decades. I started watching the clips on Tracey Ulman when I was 9 and the actual show when I was 11. I am 33 now. Although strangely enough, I have grown a little bored of Family Guy and South Park and miss The Simpsons again.

People say that the best simpsons episodes are their early ones. I tried watching them, i watch all of the first 5 seasons, and i wasn't interested. After watching south park, simpsons seems so tame.
They might make get more viewers for the Simpsons if they stopped showing the same 15 or 20 episodes from the last 2 seasons in a continuous loop (I swear to God that my local Fox station does that; so annoying).
Isn't it weird to see as the years had past after the movie, and the ride was open to the public, not much people have talked about it. Now, people have heard that it will come to an end. Now that Nepoleon Dynamite is coming to Fox, they may get the same rating, but not as much as The Simpsons had.

The Simpsons became irrelevant once Southpark hit town. Come to think of it, im finding family guy less and less funny also :( Southpark still remains the funnier of all of them. Don't get me wrong Simpsons fanbois. I used to love the show 12 years ago, but now it's just a laim horse that needs it's end.

Here's an idea. Put the entire Simpsons up on Fox dot com forever (no locks, you pricks) and make money off of the advertising you have there. Problem solved. Too bad Fox is a piece of shit starting with their news channel. You are too greedy Fox.

i really havent seen a single episode of the Simpsons in maybe 6-7 years. So i have no idea about the alleged "drop off" in quality. I'm surprised it's still on...i remember loving the Simpsons back in 2nd grade...now i'm 24. But i'll always remember the many great episodes from back in the 90's

Okay last sunday I was sad about the simpsons ending but i was getting to accept it (the show has been around longer than ive been alive course i want to keep it) but when I saw that last episode with the seals it is the 1st episode of the series that i claimed SUCKED! Excusable for jumping the shark a bit or getting some closure out there for a final season but to keep it like this much longer.... its freaking frustrating

The major reason why The Simpsons isn't pulling in the same amount of money isn't because there are a million other shows to watch. That might be a little bit of the problem but let's face it, people are bored with it after 2 decades. I started watching the clips on Tracey Ulman when I was 9 and the actual show when I was 11. I am 33 now. Although strangely enough, I have grown a little bored of Family Guy and South Park and miss The Simpsons again.

Isn't it weird to see as the years had past after the movie, and the ride was open to the public, not much people have talked about it. Now, people have heard that it will come to an end. Now, ALOT of people are showing how much they do care about the show? I mean, not that much people may enjoy watching shows from Fox anymore.
Now that Nepoleon Dynamite is coming to Fox, they may get the same rating, but not as much as The Simpsons had.
