this song just seems to have everything the last album lacked. Great riff, great groove, love the backing vocal. I really really hope the studio version sounds like this. I'm tired of all the drull, empty songs of the older stuff
@goodbyeisthenewhello Wow... dull and empty are definitely not how I'd describe any of Little Dragon's music... but I guess everyone experiences music in a different way. Their original album definitely had more of a Jazz / Soul type of feel. I agree that Machine Dreams seems to be a transitional album in terms of musical style, but based on what I've heard so far, Ritual Union seems be the result of the transition. The songs definitely seem to have a more polished feel.
@angryoaf funny thing is the studio version "didn't" end up sounding anything like this. None of the electricity, energy, catchyness, or full sound this live recording has. It indeed does exemplify what I called dull and empty. In the studio version the riff is very soft and in the background, and the guy never does the backing vocal thing which was a very fresh touch here. Mor songs like Looking Glass & Feather would have been nice But you can't not know what I mean. no Emp Ants full sound
Oh this is good. Sparse. Austere. Soulful.
