Although Ron Paul may be for small govt, he is considered by many to be the least conservative congressman in the GOP. He openly encourages many conspiracy theories that are detrimental to the Republican party, Ron Paul has some skeletons in his closet about racism, Ron Paul was and is for isolationism, and he excused the 9/11 attacks as done because we were over there for 10 years. i never said he was politically conservative, which is what you're saying. i was saying that he was 'constitutionally' conservative, meaning he follows the Constitution more closely than any other representative. The GOP claims to be conservative in the constitutional sense, but a lot of its policies now can only be considered traditional and old school, which in some cases differs significantly from the Constitution. I'd have to look into his racism, as I've never heard of that.

Ron Paul supports non-intervention, not isolationism. About 9-11, he did not excuse the attacks, he was telling people why they happened. He cited a CIA report saying that it was "blow back," a direct result of our foreign policy. That's way Iran is cautious of us, we overthrew their government in the'50s and installed a dictator, we supported Saddam while he was gassing his own people, just because he was at war with Iran. We supported Musharraf. The point is, there are consequences.

2 reasons why Ron Paul is not running as an independent

1. He is a true Republican, not a neocon- He wants to restore the Republican party rather than ditch it and start anew: that shows perseverance

2. He'd get shut out even more by the media as a third party, giving McCain an automatic shot at President.
