With this kind of music, I think it is better to have a group performance because there is no much dancing around and active performance (at least not in this clip) and I saw Celtic Woman where Haley Westenra sang Meav's parts. It was great, but I wanted to see Meav though. But Haley Westenra is nice to look at too!

There will never be a better set of voices than the original four. They were vibrant, exciting, thrilling and a joy to watch. CW is still my favorite vocal group, and i am very pleased that Chloe and Lisa have remaind true to the group.

To ACTUALLY clear it up. Meav actually left, very voluntarily, due to problems with the CEO of CW at the time, Scott Porter, who was Lisa Kelly's husband at the time also. Orla had similar issues. Porter at present is not connected to CW whatsoever. Meav returned to the stage in Dublin a few weeks ago, after an extended vacation, to rave reviews and standing ovations! PLUS, on the June 21st, she gave birth to her second beautiful daughter, Catherine.

Well it seems to me that "a full time break" means that she quit. Why would they call it a FULL TIME break if she didn't quit? A full time break tells me that she's not planning on returning. Maybe I'm wrong but nothing has been said anywhere about her returning to Celtic Woman in the future.
It may well have been that she and Orla are getting more mature and the road has lost it's thrill. After a long and successful career with CW they may just want to spread their creative wings and do the material they want the way the want to. Best of luck to both gifted lovely ladies. At least here I can figure out what Meav's singing in Si do Mhaimeo i since she's singing solo here without a choir. The piano is kind of distracting though.
I've become a fan of her work, not only solo but with celtic woman. I understand that she parted ways, to be with family and pursue her career. She could've had control with the venues and the songs the band was at. I'm glad that she had fun touring with the band. I understand stress in non-stop tours, pre-selected songs. If i was her, i would've had control which songs i sung, negotiate scheduling wise so there can be more lee way for both parties.
Meav is more than talented enough - she'll do just fine solo, trust me. Celtic Woman might have become too overwhelming and commercial for her guys... she does have a family, after all.
I'm not sure why some people are saying she's happier now that she's not with Celtic Woman. She looked happy when she was with them. What was the problem?
If she's flying solo, her schedule is all hers, instead of having to be in the same schedule with others- but then again, I think she sounds better with the choir in Celtic Woman.
Age discrimination. Same likely reason why Orla was fired. I find it ironic that every replacement since Deirdre Shannon has been young, in the mid to late 20's.
I read that Orla quit to do a solo album & spend some time with her family. She wasn't fired. In fact I read that Meav left for the same reason. Besides Meav doesn't look older than 26 at the most.
Actually I don't think so. I think that what they really care about is not the age but the voice. And Meav isn't that old, and Deirdre doesn't look much younger than Meav. Besides, they wouldn't have asked Meav and Orla to be part of CW at the very beggining (that was 2 years ago more or less), since 2 years ago they weren't much younger than now!
Well, CW is under different management than what is was in the beginning, as Sharon Browne is no longer part of it and Dave Kavanagh runs things. If it was the voice, then it doesn't make sense why the two replacement singers are much younger and nowhere near as impressive vocally as the original girls.
CW also started five years ago, in fall of 2004, not two years ago.
Yes, this was after she left CW. The only reason she sounds different is because it is a live concert... there is no audio enhancements. There is also no orchestra or choir acompanying her.
She told the story behind every song she sang other than the Christmas ones. At each concert the story would be embellished just a little bit more. It was great.
I was sitting about 10 feet from her at this concert. This video doesn't do her justice. She seemed like she enjoyed herself so much on this tour. The other concerts were amazing as well. The last two shows were actually better than this one. They were smaller, more intimate venues. Plus this venue was very dark and she couldn't see the audience very well so she couldn't interact quite as much. Still an amazing performance. I'm glad she's not with CW, she's so much happier on her own.
yes and no. She's not as out there solo as she was with CW, but she's certainly happier (which is what we want.) Still, I'm sad, since I don't live in a big city or anything, I'll probably never see her. Anyway, she keeps it true to the irish roots, which CW does - admittedly - stray from that. So I'm likin this alot.

Age discrimination. Same likely reason why Orla was fired. I find it ironic that every replacement since Deirdre Shannon has been young, in the mid to late 20's.

I read that Orla quit to do a solo album & spend some time with her family. She wasn't fired. In fact I read that Meav left for the same reason. Besides Meav doesn't look older than 26 at the most.

She is older than 26. But that is the reason why she/they left. And also, Meav left to spend more time with her daughter. They DIDN'T GET FIRED!!!!

Actually I don't think so. I think that what they really care about is not the age but the voice. And Meav isn't that old, and Deirdre doesn't look much younger than Meav. Besides, they wouldn't have asked Meav and Orla to be part of CW at the very beggining (that was 2 years ago more or less), since 2 years ago they weren't much younger than now!

Well, CW is under different management than what is was in the beginning, as Sharon Browne is no longer part of it and Dave Kavanagh runs things. If it was the voice, then it doesn't make sense why the two replacement singers are much younger and nowhere near as impressive vocally as the original girls.
CW also started five years ago, in fall of 2004, not two years ago.

Yes, this was after she left CW. The only reason she sounds different is because it is a live concert... there is no audio enhancements. There is also no orchestra or choir acompanying her.

She told the story behind every song she sang other than the Christmas ones. At each concert the story would be embellished just a little bit more. It was great.

She did a lot of original stuff from her cd "Silver Sea" actually. She also did some Christmas songs since it was right before Christmas.

I was sitting about 10 feet from her at this concert. This video doesn't do her justice. She seemed like she enjoyed herself so much on this tour. The other concerts were amazing as well. The last two shows were actually better than this one. They were smaller, more intimate venues. Plus this venue was very dark and she couldn't see the audience very well so she couldn't interact quite as much. Still an amazing performance. I'm glad she's not with CW, she's so much happier on her own.

yes and no. She's not as out there solo as she was with CW, but she's certainly happier (which is what we want.) Still, I'm sad, since I don't live in a big city or anything, I'll probably never see her. Anyway, she keeps it true to the irish roots, which CW does - admittedly - stray from that. So I'm likin this alot.
