My coach is always bitching about foot work - bend your knees. When I am looking for most players (even RF) they don't do it that much. What about wheelchair guys. They still do nice backhends.I think the most important is the upper body rotation and swing of the racket.
although it is true, you should have a knee bend with almost every shot you hit, i find the overrating done by many american/high school coaches very annoying.
too much knee bend leads to slowed down movement and can tire you much quicker if you are not conditioned properly.
Nalby's is still far too inconsistent for it to be no.1! Murray is at the top of the charts for returning and his backhand is his strongest weapon so...
Can't believe this...I just asked you to make this exact video after viewing your Nadal BH video....then up pops this Murray video. I'm in the twilight zone right now.
It's funny to see people criticising this stroke when it works so well. Frew McMillan, who ought to know what he's talking about, says Murray has the best backhand in tennis.
u dont understand. tennis shots are about efficiency rather than looking flowing and beautiful because tennis is about winning and thats why this is such a great shot because its so compact and so quick to pull off which is why he is one of the best returners in the game at the moment.
I don't understand? As I just obviously stated, it is a return, meaning that he didn't have the time to normally set up using footwork and correct racket preparation. Is it a fine form for a return? Yes it is. It is not correct for a normal ground-stroke backhand. I think most tennis players will agree that you are the one with a limited comprehension of the mechanics and technique behind tennis stroke production.
it's a bad example for a standard groundstroke. a return is so much different than a normal groundstroke because you have little time to do any footwork and your preparation has to be consolidated to same time. one thing you can see is that his right foot is not stepping into the court like he normally would for a backhand. however, it is a textbook return shot. murray has a great return.
Awesome player!!!

2 hands: Nalbandian in his good days.
1 hand: Gasquet, Pau. Both are very good.
