Just used the HD video mode in the z1275 for the first time and am having serious problems with the camera losing focus very easily when a subject is moving or when the camera is moved. I have heard about a video stabilization problem and am wondering if that is the cause of the problem or is it the continuous AF mode I used.
The "serious" problem you are describing is normal for all digicams. You have to refocus by lightly pressing the shutter button, or make sure your subject doesn't move. If you want perfect focusing for moving subjects, you need a camcorder, not a digicam.
I was thinking about buying one of these camreas mainly because of the HD video and the 12MP camrea. What is the battery life like with just a pair of durcell batterys? What size card do you recommend? thanks!!
I'm interested in these EasyShare cameras because of the HD capability. I've got an HV20 but I'd like something that can do HD in my still camera that I can keep handy on road trips and what not. Plus this can save to SDHC cards. The only thing I've noticed in some test shots is the lens is audible when zooming in and out in the video. Have you noticed this with your camera? How bad is it? Can you post a vid using the zoom so we can hear?
You can't really zoom in and out with these cameras. It's not just the audible problem, it's also the fact that the camera loses focus very easily when you do that and it destroys the quality of the video. So if you want to purchase such a Kodak camera, forget both "live" zoom in/out (you can still zoom-in, focus and *then* record without visual problems) and exposure compensation.
Gotcha... Yeah I've got a Canon S3IS still camera that shoots motion jpeg (eats up the 8GB SDHC Card) I think it has a 12x optical zoom and shoots standard def and it's great quality and sound. I just hate the large file size and it's only standard def. But I'm pleased with the quietness of the lens when you zoom and it has no problems auto focusing. Just looking for an HD solution. Sanyo has the HD1000 but it's WAY more expensive than these easy shares, but you get what you pay for I guess :)
Yeah, if you are willing to give up exposure compensation, and "live" zoom in/out, these Kodak cameras are totally worth it. I would recommend getting the V1253 as it supports stereo microphones. Check the HD sample video on my Vimeo dot come video page.
I'm sorry, never used vimeo, what is your vimeo page address? I tried to use your youtube nickname on there but couldn't find it. Yeah I'm def. looking for something that has good auto white balance, zoom, focus, auto stabalization, etc. etc.
I think I might just get the Casio EX-V7. I'ts only standard def. but I like the fact it's 7x optical and the lens doesn't move. Good for fitting in your pocket. It shoots wide screen and the standard def looks great. I just don't know though haha
Youtube does not allow to put URLs here. You will have to go to my youtube user page (click my name), and there I have a Vimeo link of my HD videos in the description (not clickable). Copy/paste that url on your browser, and you will find the Kodak video.
Got it :) watched the video and I think your review is right on... For the price you cant really complain. Of course you can spend more for the Sanyo or a Canon HV20 or their other HD model camcorders but in all instances you pay ALOT more. So for the price I gotta hand it to Kodak. Their technology will only get better and now the competition will have to step up and offer similar models so the future looks bright for HD on digital cameras, just gotta wait a little longer for them to come out:)
As I mentioned below, you can download the original file as it came out of the camera and view it yourself. Why do I get the same question over and over??? Why people never read the description?
Dude, youtube makes your videos look like crap, what an insult to your camera, but I know how to cheat it, check my tutorial /watch?v=toQVXSTS-p4&NR=1 or visit my channel, good luck!
Dude, get a life. On the description you will find a link to download the original unmodified clip, the video exists on youtube because it people will find it easier this way. But you didn't even read the description.
hey, im about to shoot my next short. they are telling to shoot 720p instead of 16mm. I'm really lookin for awesome cinematography, what do u recommend if u know.
I think I just used the original .mp4 captured by the camera. Although if this was an edited, longer, video I would have exported from my video editor with custom settings.
I readed the comment on the other video test of this cammera. I wonder what video record is better.. if the Sony CyberShot or this Kodak... the point is.. Should I buy this cammera?... do you recomend it?.
