LX3 Low Light Sample

Great video, seriously thinking about lx3 even though it's more than a year old, I'll be annoyed if something better appears in Jan. To your charming model - great work with the piano, but get those wrists up, and maybe raise your seat. If you're self taught then well done, but could be a great time to get a teacher to get rid of any bad habits before they set in. I mean all this in a positive way, well done!

Can you set the exposure and focus to manual in video mode on the LX3? tks

You can set the camera to manual focus, but it wouldn't make sense to as it doesn't allow the focus to be adjusted while recording. Perhaps for macro shooting it may be helpful as the AF doesn't like to focus too closely while set to video mode even when set to macro.

As far as exposure, you can't use manual shutter/aperture, but you can set EV in 1/3 increments from -2 to +2. Also, you can adjust white balance, AF area (spot/multi), Metering (spot/matrix) and choose the stabilization method.

From what you say I assume you can't set the exposure 'before' starting the video, so if I wanted to pan from a side to side with different light levels I couldn't choose which area to set first.

Thanks for posting a sample of the original footage and using a tripod - rare indeed! Would be good to see a short outdoor sample at lower ISO as I'm considering one for travel photos and want to shoot some video at the same.

How long can you take video on the LX3? (Is there a time/space limit?)

I like what I see, but I am looking for a camera where the only limit is the SDHC card size I am using.

10 minutes, 30 seconds is the limit. My previous camera didn't have a limit (casio z750) and I thought it would cramp my style, but I've yet to let the camera run more than a few minutes.

Yes, it sure is! Great camera. Shooting my kids Christmas performance in our church recently, it was so dark I think I was the only one who came away with usable video and there were lots of dedicated camcorders running.

Is this with a lumix lx3? I am wanting to get one as a still camera that I can also use for my YT videos... and am curious about the sound quality. Here it sounds fine.

I've heard comments about the camera not having very good quality, but it really isn't too bad depending what your expectations are. It's not for professional work, but I've seen some pretty impressive videos.
