Awesome stuff! Thanks! Love techniques setup off that overhook - it seems really easy to get (at my level at least) because everyone is going for underhooks.
He'd better have me up on my heels and my momentum rocking forward by the time both his knees touch the ground because if he has me or any other skilled fighter with their heels under them at that particular point it's lights out for him, straight choke!
@Phlyy788 If you were a skilled fighter you'd understand that if this was done with full force, at full speed, you'd hit the floor before you even get a chance to think "straight choke".
ok i dont like the execution of the drop seio nage at all but zomg @ that perfect transition! thankyou for that, my eyes lit up seeing that transition, will try in judo soon thanks.
never seen anyone do this throw with the hand on the chest + other hand on bicep. i really like it since it keeps everything nice and tight for the throw. almost like having a gi to hold on to.
Traditional Jiu Jitsu is nothing like what a combination of Judo and BJJ would be. Traditional Jiu Jitsu was a bunch of eye pokes nut shots, and kill shots that aren't practicable. Judo and BJJ are both very useful. Traditional Jiu Jitsu is crap.
the comment i meant to reply to was deleted i think? i meant to comment on the is it possible to drop a single knee drop which it is in Judo which is a different martial art i practice I also do MMA now so the bit about me being a TKD person is not really a valid reason to criticize my comment
@10thPlanetRochester Is it OK to use nogi techniques even if your opponent has a gi on? I just started judo at a traditional school but I've been wondering if nogi techniques are permissible.
@judopathoftruth judo groundwork is pretty much the same as BJJ... the only difference is that in Judo, you don't necessarily have to submit your opponent, you can just pin him down for a good 25 seconds and your done... whilst in BJJ, you don't have that 25 second rule... just my two cents... =)
I was wondering why you don't roll through with your opponent keeping your shoulder glued to the chest on the way down and end in kasa gatame, or go for twister side control?
I was having some trouble catching myself for the tripod part in practice any tips? Thanks for the video the d'arce is pretty cool going to make an effort to learn it better.
I guess I'm not sure what you mean by roll through? But tradional Kesa Gatame is general a bad idea no-gi. Its very easy to escape and take the back, especially in a transition from a drop seiho-nage.Which is why you want to make sure you secure the whizzer and tripod and circle to north/south pos.
The key to the tripod is putting all your weight and pressure with the ball of your shoulder on thier chest area, keep your butt in the air, the only part of your body on the mat should be your feet.
Thanks that makes more sense now, the only time I have been getting to practice it is at Judo with the gi. I wish there were a 10th planet school somewhere close to Indiana.
In trying to edit my comment I removed KillerInstinct2006's comment, here it is:
"What prevents him from getting the hooks in and taking your back? Is it the speed with which this move is applied that makes the difference? This move seems kind of high risk. You obviously know a lot more about grappling than me though, so maybe I'm just not seeing everything right."
If its done incorrectly they can take your back. Your just as likely to get guillotine choked if you screw up a double leg. They key points to prevent that:
1)Establish the whizzer grip with grabbing the bicep. Squeeze the hell out of their arm. This keeps them much higher up on your back. When doing parts 2 and 3 its hard for them to settle their hips back and get the hooks in
2)collapsing in between their legs, not in front of them.
I was curious on how to do seiho nage no-gi. Thats seems to be an extremely efficient and tight way to do it. I'm gonna have to try this. Thanks for the vid.
Nice nice throw

One good variation I thought of was when locking in the darce, just sit out into a reverse scarf hold/NS arm triangle combo.
STEALTH872003 2 years ago
@STEALTH872003 That could work but the Darce is more powerful than the NS arm triangle/Reverse Arm Triangle choke.

Is it possible to hit this throw while only going down to one knee
MrSaroni 2 years ago
absolutely, just makes sure the side you are throwing him to is the knee that is down.
Auspexgetchell 2 years ago
no, which is why you want to make sure you get your butt deep between his legs, collapse, roll then tripod.

3)tripod! (this bumps them over you, so they just cant settle their base and put their hooks in)
4)opening the chest, it has crazy pressure.
5)immediately circling towards north/south position, with or without the D'arce.
6)Speed.
