I'm planning to buy a Ruger 22/10 semi rifle, as soon as when i recieve a licence in Canada.
My friend who has experienced in hunting told me that 22 caliber rifles are best for small hunting, such as rabbits and partridge huntings. I'm doing some reserch, but does anyone know why 22 caliber rifles are so popular? Also, which type of guns is better in its quality, price, and versatility?
@BeaverFevers there mainly so popular as 1) ammo is cheap, 2) there not very loud (no ear plugs required) 3) little to no recoil therefore good for kids 2learn with and not be overpowerd, 4) because most people learn with .22 it brings back old memories and nostalga always wins in the end LOL

@xtraflo I think it would work with a less powerful round because the targets flip up but hit the upper part too hard and bounce back. It is cool though.
@xtraflo It was nice to hear from you. It's been so long since I used Youtube Email, that I had a hard time getting on.I'm the 66 year old Fogie who bought the Single Shot .22 when I was about 15 in the 50's. Everything changed in the 60's with all the Assasinations. I guess it is for the better. Criminals will always have guns, so I want one too. My Gun of choice for home defence is a .22 L.R.Semi Auto Rifle.I can get enough shots off to stop a Bull with accuracy at 3 AM .Your Thoughts?
@jburawski A couple thoughts come to mind about Home Defense at 3am and .22s
For HD-I prefer S&W .357 - Plenty of stopping power and u can shoot .38s for cheap target practice. .22s though, are underestimated in terms of Lethality. If u are going to use a .22 - I'd be interested in Sub-Sonic cartridges. 1080fps - below the speed of sound-so it'd be hard to hear it when u shoot.
my dad just got me that EXACT rifle, $60 used, just had to clean out the barrle till i got to shoot it. and the safety for me on that gun is just pull back that metal peice and dont lock it in place.
OMG dude you sound like a fag who is talking to 4 year old. Also get your facts right. a long rifle is not more powerful than a short. compare the size, and you will see. and you got a .22 for christmas step up get a 300 , 270 a .22 is Learning gun.

.22 Rifles are some of the most underrated rifles there are. It is an ideal supplement weapon to have in a survival or SHTF scenario. Ammo is plentiful, small and light weight and it is powerful enough to take down any sort of small game imaginable for food. .22s are also ideal for taking down feral dogs, Coyetes or other small prey who might endanger livestock. wooo i dunno if those are rocks behind your target.(kinda crap quality video)
never a good idea to shoot .22's at rocks. they like to come back and bite you.
anyways sweet antique. cool that its still going 70 something years later. sure the guy that built in back in the 1930's had no idea it'd make it to 2010, but i bet he would be happy someone is still getting some fun out of it.
Nice shooting with the ruger towards the end.

Instead of being critical, why not teach. But if you teach, make sure you know what you're talking about.
It's a rotary magazine. Not a box clip.
Great vid, FogHead5058. Keep 'em coming. We all like to watch the shooting stuff ya know. ;)
