  • just change the knobby tires on your mtb with smooth slicks and there you go a hybrid

  • @prdanpr1982 Except that hybrids usually have larger, lighter, thinner wheels (700c), narrower tires than you can put on a mountain bike, and usually weigh around 10 lbs less. Many also don't have front suspension, so there aren't energy losses there.

But hybrids can range towards either road or mountain ends of the spectrum.

  • Should you get one without front suspension?

  • why did someone say hybrids don't use suspension? is that a "purist" thing or what is he about? suspension is just another feature to take into account on your hybrid, it can be useful or a piece of added junk at the front of your bike. it's your choice. my specialized is not expensive, has front suspension, i drive it everywhere and i can honestly say the suspension works just fine as long as you don't misuse it

  • This guys dumb, hybrids don't use suspension, I have a trek 7.3fx and I love it

  • @niklima89

that guy is right bro.. pure hybrid bike it's a MTB with 700c wheel set and go with suspension too..

and i think ur bike its not a hybird.. but its called a flatt bar road bike.. depend on manny people arround is it called hybrid or road flatt bar...

  • I need a really good Hybrid bike, Price is not really an issue for me so can you please tell me some good Hybrid bikes to look at?

  • @kingkeato crosstrail specialized

  • Does anyone know a good hybrid bike that has a maximum price of $100? I have a budget of $100?

  • @Tayrte Better go used...

  • @Tayrte

used on craigslist. anything new at that price will be garbage.

  • Hybrids also tend to get better mileage.

  • I got a hybrid bike a few days ago and love it . I used to have mountain bikes but I never went off road so with a hybrid i feel the difference of having thinner wheels as I seem to go faster now . I also like how it looks like a mountain bike ,, but not so keen on the no suspension because I cant jump off the kerb onto the roads now .

  • @ibbotson22 Trust me you'll have difficulty cheating with the pavements on a road bike lol! I am anyway. But I kerb hopped for years on tourers and hybrids. Just be clever about it and don't barge in. I hate new, big kerbs...

  • @ibbotson22 my hybrid doesnt have suspension either and i jump off curbs all the time

  • Great video to help people get ready to ride on April 15th & 16th (2011). Maybe EVERYONE will get a bike and ride it for the National "Bike It Or Hike It" Campaign.

  • Thank you for the video!

  • i might get a hybird bike

  • @LosMerengues2010 I just bought one, its brilliant..

  • hmm i guess my bike is a hybrid then.. thanks for the video.. hehehe

  • Nice one mate a very descriptive video.

  • what kind of bike should i get if i just wana go to my friends house not really wanting to go fast but not really on a dirt path

  • @MrSONYgamer A Big Wheel! lol had to say it. :)

  • I bought Trek 7.5fx A specialized Sirrus Comp and a Roubaix triple Racing I think I really enjoy the two hybids and incredibly a bikes not a just a bike they are both different to ride theres beauty in both of them I couldnt choose between the two and eventually bought both I wish I was younger not 50 as the bikes rae just so sweet to ride and i dont have enough time

  • @streamdvd Yeah... I am in my twenties and really wanting to get more into biking, not looking to do races and stuff but I'm on the other side of things. I am young enough to get out but don't have the money to buy one of each. haha. I am looking at the Specialized Sirrus Elite. What did you like about the Sirrus? Obviously the Elite is not as nice as the Sirrus, but I just wanna get out and ride and don't have the money to get too much more than the elite.

  • @vincentf81 thats how it works ,when I was younger I had the same financial issues I dont know what it is but a lot of times I would be riding and just say wow this feels good with the sirrus it just felt nice. I would say buy from ebay or Gumtree if in the Uk plenty of good bikes being sold I bought the Trek 7.5fx from ebay and fixed it up with upgrades and still didnt cost me more than a standard bike would have new.

  • Hybrids are great, but keep the suspension fork. I want to feel the road and make nimble turns. A squishy front fork won't let me do that.

  • Unless you want to pump your lungs off on a road bike or commit suicide in the wilderness on a mountain bike, hybrids are the best options especially the 26 wheeled ones which are the most versatile.

  • yea,u can do pretty much anything on a hybrid

  • @lolatmyage What about tricks are stunts?

  • @cuevarap wow i didnt realize there were bikes with 26 wheels. I still think 2 wheels is enough for me though.

  • peeple gotta make sure vat dere brakes on a bike if vey buyin one cos it important 2 b able 2 stop

  • Thanks for posting. that's great information. good stuff. i think i will buy a hybird instead of a mountain bike or a racing bike.

  • I have a Trek Hybrid 7.2 FX color is gold 750 matrix tire. It's heavy I do about 8 miles a day on it on road can't really keep up with road bikes but much faster then a mountain bike I have the sport model which is nice treks bontrager technology retail on my bike was $500.00. Bike is very strong and durable tires hold up really well I a heavy guy I weigh around 230-250 pounds and the bike is strong i live in arizona.

  • kinda queesy about Treks. I just got a fuji- have yet to test it out fully but yeah

  • what kind of bike is using?

  • Thanks for posting, anybody know what main disadvantages of hybrid >> mountain bike are and vice versa, its going to be one of the two and im for hybrid atm.

  • Benwell1, The wheels are not quite as strong on hybrids having 700c wheels instead of the 26" on the mountain bikes but if your doing quite a bit of road riding then the hybrid would be far quicker on those larger narrower wheels and also less work when riding.I bought a trek mountain bike a few years ago which was great off road but not as good on road so i have just ordered a 2008 Felt QX70.Great bike for the money i think after looking at hundreds of bikes over the last few months.

  • Thanks for the feeback :) i was going to order a specialised globe hybrid, but now ive gone for a cube MTB at towards 600euros, just im a clumsey bugger at best and the weather in the UKs horrendous so im thinking an MTB is going to be a better all round job, plus i generally dont commute more than 5 miles at a time so i guess im just going to have work a little harder :)

  • thanx for those tips...

  • thanks this was very usefull vid!
