Hardstyle is bass with a melody, while hardcore is just bass and pretty much nothing else. Mr. Lee is hardstyle, while Neophyte and other crap is Hardcore. Happy hardcore is hardcore with a melody in it and usually with a high pitched voice.

@jonte : it depends the "UK hardcore" scene isn't very hard these days, whereas hardcore in other places is kind of verging on gabber. This is UK hardcore , fast with melody. Hardstyle is probably same heavy-ness as UK hardcore but not as european hardcore.
