@batmanbeer well, this is all britishy sounding to me, and maybe there the parents are more accepting. I'd hate to see how this little cartoon would have went if it were done with american voices and proper american dialog :D

I like the video, but I'm sorry, that just not how it really works in 90% of all homes. For the most part, parents aren't understanding, and they think you've only "done this to them" to hurt them. I'm not one who thinks a person should stay in the closet his whole life, but you have to make sure your parents are the right "type" to handle it, as well as your friends. You need a proper support group around you to catch you if your parents freak out.
