  • Barker didn't retire on his own. He was fired/forced to retire, due to his scandals and lawsuits.

  • You called the Showcase the Showcase Showdown

  • Yeah, I was about to say... he fell into the trap that too many fall into, calling the "Showcase" the "Showcase Showdown". I usually try to clarify it to people by saying that you have a showdown at the wheel to see who will get to play in the showcase.

  • kgbt and kurv rock!

  • Clock Game was in Season 1? I know it came out in 1973.

  • It debuted in the 2nd week of the first season.

  • You can find the earliest playing of Clock Game if you buy The Best of TPIR on DVD. Growing up with Bob Barker, I'd have to say that that is my favorite game on the show. I have even greater love for the game I played on stage, which was Spelling Bee.

  • What ever happened to the Star-Shaped Backdrops they had when showing a car?

  • He made a mistake. He called the end of the show the "Showcase Showdown". It is called the Showcase. (Notice Bob said "Top winner in the Showcase"). The Showcase Showdown is when they spin the Big Wheel. (Notice that after the 3rd and 6th pricing game, the host says we'll be right back with the Showcase Showdown; the next segment is the Big Wheel; therefore, the Showcase Showdown is when three contestants spin the Big Wheel.)

  • very nicely done
