How To Jailbreak & Unlock 3.1 iPhone or iPod Touch on WINDOWS OR MAC

my buddy is giving me his ipone 2g. i am on tmobile and would like to unlock it so i can use it. the phone is on firmware 3.1.3. he just restored it yesterday.

my questions are,

1. will this tutorial work to unlock it?

2. what version of itunes do i need to be able to install apps and not have apple lock my phone up?

@ johnrod09: That happen 2 my brother because he restore his Jailbroke & then connected it to a different computer but he didnt know that he had 2 put it on the MAIN COMPUTER! & what I mean is like where your iTunes is & his broke like that!

For those who are asking about unlocking 3.1 7C144 firmware & base band can't be unlock yet if you updated through itunes. If you created an ipsw 3.1 with an other programm & would like to get it jailbrake & unlock yes it is possible 100%. The same tools that you had used before or google it, the only thing that matter really is not (had updated through itune to 3.1)

What would be a list of reasons the jail break would not work for an iPhone 3g with 3.1? What kind of osx do you need on your computer? This answer will help a few people I'm sure. Thank you. I emailed you but I don't know if you got it.

No you don't have to do that, your good to go just make sure you have updated to itunes 9

To unlock 3.1 you have to have AT&T. If you have att and have an iphone 2g, 2g, or ipod touch 1st gen. get at me

I'm not saying it works or that it doesn't work all I'm suing is I hvent read any comments saying it works and in ur vid all it shows is that it's jailbroken. The INSERT SIM really doesn't cut it for me that it's unlocked

good tutorial but it doesnt really show that you unlocked the iphone 2G cuz it says INSERT SIM on the top left id like to really see if it can unlock it WITH PROOF aka TMOBILE so i can try this but otherwise im not gonna give this vid credit for the unlock part

Well if you have noticed this video has almost 600 views and there are no comments saying that this doesn't unlock the iphone 2G,thats pretty much all I can do for proof, because I really don't think I have to take time out of my schedule just to make a video specifically for you.

yeah it wipes it clean, so you should back up all your stuff before doing it, and I'm not 100 % sure about your second ? ecause i was on 3.0.1 when i did it

Make sure you are itunes 9, make sure you have entered dfu mode properly , if your not sure how to do it go and search youtube on how to put iphone into dfu mode, and also make sure you were updated 3.0 before updating to 3.1
