This is NOT from Nefertiti! This is a recording from Museum of Art in Norrköping, SE, on September 8, 2001 and recorded by Jan Ström, Ayler Records. Correct dates and locations are important!
I don't really care if people put thumbs down on my comment, but read: PLAYING AS FAST AND AS VARIOUS AS YOU CAN IS NOT MUSIC. IT'S A SPORT. AND MUSIC IS NOT A SPORT! Personally I didn't enjoy this random noise you call music. The only guy that had some soul in this music was the saxophone player.
i personally don't enjoy dumbfucks' comments below a video containing some FUCKING GREAT MUSIC. fortunately dumbfucks don't decide what i consider music and i can enjoy it. if this is neither art nor music to you, you may fucking shove your music and art up your ass. you may not like it, nobody forces you to enjoy it, but you're a dumbfuck if you try to tell other people what they may consider to be art or music.
The low sounds quality makes hard to hear the bass, but it's not too technical, these guy are totally honnest with what they do, I would have understood this comment on a Steve Vai's video, and would have agree, but not here, it's not showing off, sometime you want to play fast (see the bop), it's not always showing off.
The bass solo sounds good to me, and the drum does his job, sounds kinda good too. Brotzmann is certainly the most impressive, a true genius. But you said it was sport etc, so what's the point with that ?
NOTE TO NAYSAYERS: so sorry you aren't a fan of this music/approach. go listen to your whatever whatever...
THANKS for posting this video! this album (LIVE AT NEFERTITI on Ayler label...) was my 1st Brotzmann acquisition....i now have 10+...and counting...i LOVE the work of this man and his many men.
true it is amazing playing but why not change it up - this type playing would have more impact if some versitility were included such as finding a pocket that's more melodic and groves occationally . Going at it 100% from beginning to end will become monoatonous eventually. Branford does a good job of this on his Love Supreme version of Coltrans tune as an example...but there are many exp... tension and release gives the soul nutrition -free form in moderation is effective approach of form
i see your point, but then it will lose its purpose, which is a total free and experimental abstract form of music, pretty much what free improv is all about
Después de revisar los favoritos de tigertrnt, no me sorprende su opinión acerca de la música de vanguardia, conceptual y creativa, la música de verdad.
