There you go again, "posting" rather than "replying."
Yes, Gillian does/did play synth in New Order, but there is also guitar, bass and drums, so for you to imply they are a "synth driven band", when the synth represents only 25% of the band's make up is erroneous. They are 75% "non synth." Again, as per my previous point, Kratfwerk and Daft Punk are 100% synth, so this would be "synth driven."
RIght?
And a band could do a lot worse than copying New Order....
Why are so uncomfortable with the posting and replying thing? Is it hurting you or something? And No its not right. New Order is a New Wave band. One that is known more for their dance driven songs because of "GILLIAN'S" 25% influence on the band. Daft Punk was never a band. They're an electronic act. So Comparing them to New Order is just plain rubbish.
You just don't know how to accept being wrong do you? Stick to Nintendo. you don't know what you're talking about.
It's less do with being "uncomfortable", and more to do with your somewhat, odious and sneaky attempt to fly under the radar, if you will. Posting rather than replying. You know what I'm talking about.
I never compared Daft Punk to New Order, so don't put words in my mouth. I merely said they are 100% electronic and synth driven. Unlike New Order.
How am I wrong? And now you're throwing your toys out the crib.
@bofursgun I don;tknow what you're talking about me getting sneaky. But it did got my attention. If I reply, you get an email. Posting wont. Ok sorry about that. It's not me being sneaky. It's me not noticing it.

You might wanna check New Order's Wikipedia page and check what genre were they into before. And yes, point taken, I'm very brave on replying.
Small acts like FoW doesn't have anything except for their fans. So I would know if they ripped off their music from someone. I've listened to them all my life. Same can be said to JD, Kraftwerk and yes, Daft Punk( Their Homework album is the best.)
No-one's accusing FOW of "ripping off" New order, but it is obvious that they are greatly influenced by them. New Order should take it as a compliment. FOW are not a bad band, so don't get all hot n bothered.
And New Order are TWENTY FIVE PER CENT synth. There's bass, guitar and drums there also.
New Order. a band which I also follow and loves(inc. Joy Division). Is a synth driven band. The intro doesn't have any hints of synth or keyboards in it. But don't get me wrong, I\m not starting any fight. Both of us love the music. We just differ on the rip-off thing.
Why did you "post" than "reply" to my comment? I'm not trying to start a fight either, but that was a bit sneaky.

The guitar, bass and vocals at the intro to this song are enough for New Order to sue if they wanted to.
@SleepyTymeT, Maybe so, but their remarkably obvious adoration and homage to New Order certainly doesn't make them unique. They'd probably be the first to admit it, as it's nigh impossible to deny. The intro is shameless New Order plagiarism.
I know who the band is, I never said they sold out, and nor did I say I didn't enjoy the music.
I merely said that they are blatantly copying New Order, which is 100% true. Just listen to the intro up until 0:43. That's not a New Order influence?
How apropos. Don't worry. Not to fret. It's just like being at the beach.... :) Like the dude in Repo Man said. Radiation is good for you. Nuclear energy is a totally viable solution to today's energy needs, right? Ask the Japanese and everyone downwind. Ever seen the China Syndrome? Wow. Now what?
I have listened to the same cd single disc of this since it came out, I will always have it. I can't get bored of it, or the b-sides. It makes me feel so happy, and I remember being a teenager and care-free, good days. I wish songs like this were still made, I miss the excitement of rushing down to HMV on a Monday morning and looking at the £1.99 new releases and the artwork and b-sides, there was a magic then that is so lost now.
Here it is: the most prefect pop song written in the 90's. A close 2nd would be Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend", or any solid Superdrag song. But this one > all contenders of the era.
@tmlafrance It was actually The Smashing Pumpkins who discovered and signed FofW to their then fledgling label. It was James Iha and D'arcy who are credited as discovering them officially.

It is super simple, it flows, but it just gets right in there. Inspired! Well done boys...great song.
I guess arguing is another way you can enjoy music...but from an outsiders point of view, it kinda looks a bit sad.

I"ll cut my arm off if you did not consider New Order a synth band. Than what's Gillian's role in New Order then?
Those groups that you've mentioned. I was able to watch and like some of their songs here on Youtube. So I know what I'm talking about.
But if you really think that the intro sounds New Order"ish". Than so be it.
