I totally agree with the most recent poster (though hey mon, your screen name is a bit scary!). This is a lovely version of a lovely song, message perfect as a tribute to Dr. King. Too bad that the message still remains relevant in our violent world. Solidarity & Peace.
I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't tap into the monumental emotional feeling that this cover ignites. Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer singing a Bob Marley song...holy fucking shit!
29 dislikes?what is the fucking world coming to?two of the most talented songwriters/singers the world has ever known.get a fucking life you brain dead twats who know nothing about real talent/music!
@mocavius hei, keep calm, i've said that because the transition between the notes are really innatural, maybe, the age ruined his voice, as happened to Cash, but his voice is more natural than joe, that's all...
johnny cash is one of the artists who could ever do covers like a boss. if anyone in my generation; katy perry lady gaga lil wayne ect. ever TRIES to make a cover of the majesties. i will sacrifice myself so our future children will never have to hear such atrocities to music.

2 FUCKING LEGENDS TOGETHER SINGING A TRULY LEGENDARY SONG !! I REALLY THINK BOB WAS LOOKING DOWN WHEN THEY SUNG THIS WITH A HUGE SMILE ON HIS FACE !! NOW THERE ALL TOGETHER WITH THE BIG BAND IN THE SKY !! NO DOUBT SHARING A SPLIFF OR TWO AND JAMMING WITH ALL THE OTHER GREATS NO LONGER WITH US !! WHO THE FUCK R THE PEOPLE THAT DISLIKED THIS / ? HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME !! CARRY ON LISTENING TO THAT PRICK JUSTIN BIEBER !! HAPPY XMAS TO THE REST OF YOU MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS !!
I remember both the days when Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer died Even though I was only 5. I remember my mother and father crying when Joe died and my sister for days when Johnny died and I was just like why is everyone crying...but now I can completely understand this song is beautiful
.....Joe (John is his real name) Strummer's life was one disaster or miracle after another.....more or less abandoned (along with his older brother, who committed suicide before he was 21) by his birth parents at age 9!
this may not be as good as Bob Marley's version but it's still a pretty good version.
as a Johnny Cash fan I would have prefered if it was just Cash singing, I don't know Joe Strummer and I'm not terribly impressed by his voice in here but I don't think he ruins it or anything.
i hate how everyone has to get all mad at me for saying my own opinion. i listen to super punk stuff (Sex Pistols, Nirvana, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, etc.) and i love Joe's voice, but i dont think it fit this song very well. i dont care if you do, cause thats your opinion and i respect it
@heffalumpsandwoosles It is much more than the song itself. Just by havin those two together is a bliss already. It is a matter of recognizing it... or not, as you say. This version is pretty good, by the way.
Perhaps the people commenting that they don't think Strummer's voice "fits" this song should listen to the version where Strummer sings the whole thing alone. Non-Clash fans might need some time to adjust to the raspiness of Joe's voice, especially if it's coming right after Johnny Cash's smoother tone. Trust me, Joe sings this song amazingly well (especially on his own), and it fits him perfectly.
@TechnoDual i never said he wasnt! i like the clash, and Joe strummer, but his voice didnt fit this song. niether did johnny's that much, but they both put tremendous amounts of emotion in it, im not gonna doubt that. that doesnt mean im not allowed to have my own opinions.
@flimbambo 101ers were pub rock. Joe didn't start making punk music til he joined the Clash. But anyways, it's all irrelevant as long as you like the 101ers :) I do suggest you check out the Clash though... They truly were one of the greatest bands of all time IMHO, and rightly deserved to be called "The Only Band That Matters"
Ouh Joe, Johnny, if You could see what People is doin' right now in all the part of World, what Indignados are bringin out to the World, the Love for the World. Oh Joe, You will Always be a piece of My Heart.
@TRuble510 Seriously? You must not have been a Clash fan then, because Joe Strummer has one of the most-unique, incredible, and instantly-recognizable voices in music history! His songs were (and still are) so powerful and his voice just made them that much better. There will never be anyone like him again. RIP Joe...
@NickB1967 Mick's voice is great, that's undeniable, and I'd say it's just as recognizable as Joe's to any Clash fan. I still think Joe has the edge in terms of uniqueness and unmatchable-ness (?) but I love 'em both!
ok i have a question a serious one. on the cd legend the song with the same lyrics is waiting in vain not redemption song. is my cd just "speshul" or am i just really confused?
@MiloBranflakes Because most people want slavish imitations of the original, and because it's irritating to some to have white boys sing a black man's song about slavery.
i used to hate the part where joe jumps in... i was just like, "who the hell is this guy??" i had no idea until now that it's JOE STRUMMER, what an incredible team up for such a beautiful song.
@gofuckyourselfish2 What is wrong with not liking this version? Some folk think the original should never be touched.I am a big Johnny Cash fan.And love the guys voice. And this a very different to the original. But Bob Marley did it best.RIP CASH,and STRUMMER

I merely meant, at some point, in the key I was singing it in, I couldn't sing any higher..that's all..Hearing Johnny Cash singing it low helped me to realize I could do the same..to be myself Mr.Nasty.........You completely misinterpreted what I was saying.....email someone else, please, with you nasty comments...dm
