@RossWZA That's because of the camera's framerate. Video is simply a series of still pictures. If each of those pictures, or "frames", was captured at a rate divisible by the propellor's rpm, they would appear to stand still.
@RossWZA its becouse frequency of capturing pictures of camera is same as rotation of blades .. thats why it produces still picture of rotating blades .. or just read something about frequency, how camera works and stuff around :)
As a Captain for Pan Am Express, I have flown the Dash7 6000 hours. The Dash7 will always be on of my favorite aircraft. Not very fast, 230 max, 14000 feet, but it could maneuver, designed to minimize the impact of airframe icing more than other tprops i've flown, comfortable, engine failure was a non event
We flew hubs out of JFK, MIA, LAX. I recall being on a six mile final to Nassau at 16000 feet due to severe turb down low,....and still had to add power on short final :)
@bbjsw10 You're right: the faster a plane goes, the lower its nose, and slower equals nose-up due to the wing's angle of attack relative to the plane's speed to maintain lift and level flight. In this shot they're going as fast as that particular flap setting will allow. This nose-down attitude is true with any plane, especially if you look here for a video of an Ilyushin IL-76 doing a nosegear-drag on a runway with its mains still in the air.
@butterbean444 You wana hear sad? The airport at Bangor, Maine had at least 10 of them lined up to be broken up. They were in process of being dismantled, engines, control surfaces, empennage being removed. Heartbreaking.
@SenorSpode :( dude l would so buy one and clear out all the seats make like a flyin house that makes me want to cry for retiring such a beautiful plane
@butterbean444 In spite of the plane's incredible performance, I think the reason why it's fading into extinction is because it uses 4 PT-6A engines. Now that fuel's pricier and it costs more to overhaul 4 small turbines versus 2 larger ones--plus with newer engines being much more powerful and efficient--the DHC-7 will simply go to smaller outfits, get pricier to maintain and simply end up in a flying museum or two. It's a sad ending but a remarkable history for a remarkable plane.
the camera has a low frame rate so it records and leaves a small gap inbetween each frame and in that gap if you had a better camera you would see it move.
@laservader1 well just the quality and steadiness of the plane made it look completely animated. as well as the low speed. but i believe its real just making sure
@cyther39 That is an effect when you use a camera with a frame rate similar to the movement of the propellers, it only seems there not moving but they are.
the camera takes 50 pic per second, and the prop is also moving with 50 rps, the blade of the prop is always at the same position ,when the camera takes a picture
You can't compare the 2 cause they were built with a totally different purpose in mind. Dash 7 STOL aircraft 400 not! There are airports the 7 can go into, the 400 wish it could. when it comes to speed, capacity the 400 is brilliant . When it comes to landing in less than 500ft 7 is brilliant
@Salaison I agree for the better part, but still the Q400 and its siblings are impressive in the STOL category as well. They were not designed with STOL in mind, but when the fully-loaded Q400 I was on in Seattle rolled 3,000 feet, nosed up and climbed like a stripe-assed ape, it was still very impressive. The Dash7 speaks for itself as a STOL plane: AWESOME.
@Yurfatmama <---Bro was obviously an 'ace Pilot', -what was his name for posterity sake (-FAA can't pull his license now!); -did smoking cause cancer? -or to much hi-altitude flying UV-exposure causing skin-cancer? Sad in any case, as nutritional-supplements can usually cure (Big-pharma toxic-drugs & AMA-endorsed treatments are definitely not a cure)! Appears he had the flaps full-down, and under low throttle, --so he was just skillfully floating-by on boundary-layer buoyancy..!!!
Lol, I love that still propeller effect :D
