This video is really creative in the way they used a simple childhood activity and made a whole story line around it in less than 5 MINUTES I think it's pretty amazing, and for anyone out there that has ever done a stop motion movie you probably know how much work goes in to it. I really enjoyed the movie and it deserved nothing less than BEST PICTURE. I would love to see it win regionally!
This film shows such great talent in planning and technique. It's original and fun! Isn't that what movies are supposed to be? I'm not a film major, I'm a consumer, and I know that's what I want over other stupid, cliche plot lines like the horribly overdone "gangster movie." This movie has some michel gondry-esque whimsy that I love! Great job to everyone involved! And I heard a non-film major won! ha ha, that's great! It's good for the film majors' inflated egos.
i do not attend sjsu, so i am not going to write a butt hurt comment like many of you. i think the film offers a lot in terms of video technique and especially in terms of the time frames the students were working with. the decision to use voice over, stop motion, and music was probably brutal, and i think this pulls it off. thanks for the video!
ok, things are getting a bit too serious here. this is the effing campus movie fest not sundance. they did stop motion and people like that, dont blame them for that. as for me, ya i do think that perhaps others were more deserving but thats the judges fault, not theirs. i am surprised at what won but the videos were mostly all good this year, including this one.
soo i love this video, the hard work shows and so does the talent! for all the haters that had negative comments jealousy is a disease. Just because they did a better job in your field and you didn't make top 16 or make a video at all does not mean they suck. about the stop motion... it was fabulous and your just mad you didn't think of it... but even if you did it wouldn't be half as good.
Hard work, sure. Talent, there's some in stop motion. A better job? Not really. After seeing the other FILMS from SJSU either CMF is not a film contest or the scoring system is totally flawed (which I hope is the correct answer)...its not that stop motion isn't interesting or that they suck, it just doesn't belong in a film contest.
Stop motion mainly requires time, and this isn't even the best stop motion. Look I'm not saying the video sucks, it deserved to be in top 16, but SJSU usually represents pretty well at regionals, but this year it looks like we are going to lose
using STOP motion only works when there is a clear need for it to effectively tell a story. In this case it CLEARLY in no way shape or form gave it a purpose
I think the best part was the soundtrack! Other wise...do you remember James and The Giant Peach? Or parts of Star Wars? Also great stop animation! But really...I do want a copy of the soundtrack :-)
this movie is great i love it more and more each time i watch it. the attention to detail, the subtleties its all there. this film shows what others should watch and learn from.
Representing SJSU, (the school with 4 films in 2008's international) the most politically decided victory for 'best ANYTHING'. This is garbage and doesn't deserve to be seen by anyone.
Fuck off mother fuckers, it's a Campus Movie Fest, an Amateur film festival, that you do for fun, if anyone takes this shit seriously, they really need to look in the mirror and take that shit to sundance if they're so "professional"
I like how you removed a bunch of your comments, including some dirty ones to me. You probably worked on this film right? Or your friends did. Either way, yea, filmmaking's pretty serious to those actually pursuing it as a career. But you're right, we should've all learned our CMF lesson by now.
Sorry if I offended you/ your friend's clever film. And with French in it? I'm such a jerk. French is so avant garde. hahahahaa
Congrats on the win. It was entertaining and looked as though it was painstaking to make. I like the attention to detail and the use of color with the costumes. I like the robots. Although I don't know French (I think it was French). The narration gave it a 1960s Euro movie feel. Good luck at regionals.
music is amazing

This is Danny from sf state's, floating above us. And I must say, this is by far the best cmf film I have seen all year.

this is unique. but i really dont think it can scarth the surface of SF state's floating above us or USC's the route.

while this movie is very creative and original, we must all question if this movie was truly the best movie made from SJSU

Well it won, so you should quit.
TatorTotTom 2 years ago
If this really won best picture, then I quit as a filmmaker. I guess I'll just spend the rest of my life studying theories on stop-motion.

right on brother

Since this movie won, no one will want to come to SJSU in the future. They might as well close the school now.

GRRR. I'm so pissed off. What's up with that monkey in the beginning? He sure is cute....
