@leebaseball11 Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri all were Union states during the war who maintained the institution of slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation issued by Lincoln was written to not apply to these Border States. Missouri and Maryland abolished slavery during the war, but Kentucky and Delaware still kept the institution until the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment in December 1865. hey there i actually attend the ole miss games so ya let me inform you what really goes on. We are not a bunch of whites screaming racial slurs left and right. We have a very diverse student section and even the black students yell the cheer. Also the civil war was not about slavery it was about state's rights seeing as how there were union states who still had slavery. Mississippi has come along way from when my grand parents grew up. not to say we still don't have problems but it's getting better. what pisses me off is when whites act like just because your not white your not a true southerner, I can trace my mother's side of the family to the late 1700's from france who settled in LA, my black side to the mid 1800's in MS I was born and breed to be southern it's in my blood it's my heritige and got damnit where ever I go it goes with me.

Why does "The south will rise again" have to mean a return of slavery? To me it's always been a positive thing.... Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the US and why can't that rise be an economic one? A majority of people who yell this at games don't want to have slavery again, it's just a wish that our state will some day will regain a positive image ( and not be the fattest, poorest fucks in the US).
