  • You would love "The Best Glue Ever". Google it to find the website. It truly is the BEST GLUE EVER!

  • I love this! The only thing I DON'T like about paper bag albums, is the gusset! Either you have to glue it together (and hope it stays glued) or leave it open, and it bugs me that way. This is the best of both worlds! You get the paper bag, but without the weird gusset! Thanks to you and Kathy Orta! I am off now to my hobby room to begin this great modification to the wonderful paper bag album! Please do more videos!

  • Wonderful take on Kathy Orta's mini. TFS

  • I want your glue gun... whered ya get it.. LOL

  • @CindyRobertson123 I got it as a gift, but it is the Aleene's Ultimate Glue Gun and it comes in a case with multiple tips. I put the fine point on it & never looked back! You should be able to find it at craft stores like Michael's, Hobby LObby, etc.

  • Will you be uploading your finished album to you tube? My computer will not load ustream correctly so I can't watch your tutorial. :(

  • @bigredslilmomma It's already available for viewing on my channel. Check out the video titled "Scrapbook Album: Completed "Flora & Fauna" Paper Bag Album" from May 27, 2011 to see the finished album! :D

  • Also love the modification!

  • Where can I find the hole punch like that?

  • @ScrapNDaze That is the 7 Gypsies Binderie machine & it is an electric hole drill. You can find them lots of places online. Just try doing a search in bing shopping or google shopping. You should get lots of options. Overstock {dot} com has it for a pretty good price right now & their shipping is very reasonable.

  • I've watched this video several times, because I want to use this technique in my next paperbag book and my memory is just bad...lol. It's only my 2nd album and hope it will be much better with the addition of the flaps. Making more pages for pictures and decorating and also the idea of punching holes for binding. Thank you so so much for sharing.

  • @DevinMyLuv1 You're so welcome! This album does hold a ton of photos ~ and you can use mostly 4"x6" photos, too, so less time editing in Photoshop! :D I am almost done decorating mine. Should finish it tomorrow, actually! Yay!

  • Thats great - I want to use this style of bag in Laura's (Following the paper trail) double sided album but was trying to figure out how I could use Tim Holtz ring binders as well - problems all solved !!! Thanks for saving my aching brain xxx

  • Thanks for doing this tutorial...I just made abunch of pages...and instead of putting the chipboard in I just put eyelets in the holes to reinforce them....

  • Very clever Kathryn, you and Kathy have created the ultimate paper bag album here! Can't wait to get into it. Jan.

  • Seriously - A-MA-ZING! :) Enjoy sunny Miami from me in chilly Montreal!

  • TFS! What an excellent idea adding the chipboard to strengthen it for binding! Your videos are very clear and easy to follow! Looking forward to watching you decorate it!

  • I really want to see you on Saturday, but I won't be able to. Will you be adding the tutorial to your You Tube??? I hope, I hope!!

  • @kissbehr I'll be recording the UStream & when I show the finished album on YouTube, I'll be sure to include those links for you guys to see!

  • Really great idea!! Always looking for new ways to play with my paper bag albums.

My mind is now spinning with all the different possibilities on filling up all those extra pockets...lol

  • Both you and Kathy are so lovely and talented. Thank you for your time and your ideas!

    Brigitte :-)

  • It is nice but it's way too complicated for me :( thank you for showing me another way to do the paperbags :) hugs M

  • great! huge thanks to both you and Kathy hugs :)

  • a huge thank you to both you and kathyorta for sharing these fab paper bag ideas. I can not wait to make several. I hope to join in on the ustream. You are both such talented ladies and we appreciate you both taking the time out to share your creative ideas.

  • Dynamite album...I love it. Can't wait until the marathon 6 hour lesson on Saturday. WooooHooo. Kathryn and Kathy, what a great construction method!!! See you on Saturday.

    ~Hope

  • Loved your idea of adding chipboard to the flaps. Love all your videos! Your tutorials are amazing!

  • Great idea from both Kathy and yourself. Must be a retreat weekend. Also going on a cropping trip but will catch some of your u-stream show on this bag. Thanks to you and Kathy for your generous sharing of ideas!

  • @spatch1000 That's cool that you'll be on a retreat, too! I hope you have tons of fun! :D I'm actually going to be cropping Friday night and Saturday before The Beach crop ~ ha ha! I am going to be all scrapped out by the end of the day Saturday!

  • kudos for giving someone props, love your version!!! you rock!!!

  • Very cool, thanks for sharing your variation! Valerie

  • awesome video! can't wait til saturday!!!!!

  • i barely got the regular paperbag album a lil down, but MAN, this one is labor intensive. So i'm guessing that means it's gonna be awesome decorated! I can't wait to see it all decorated.. I'll try and join the swap, i gotta work this weekend. TFS!!

  • Awesome. love your paperbag albums. can't wait to see the UStream on Saturday.

I'm actually going to Florida -- Jacksonville area -- next week to visit my sister. wish i could stop by and say Hi. A huge fan, Fliritini.

  • @flirtini83 Aw, yeah, too bad Jacksonville is five hours from Miami! :( I hope you have tons of fun with your sister, though! :D

  • although I understand completely why you added the cs and think it was brilliant btw, this makes such an easier visual. Well done. Hope to be there with "bags" on! the Oz

  • So excited about this technique. I can't wait to see it finished ...The possibilities are endless!!!

  • I love Kathy's album and I love the twist you put on it! I am not sure I can make the crop but I will definately watch the recorded show! Thanks for sharing!

  • Where can I get the chipboard that you use ? I think the CB that Michael's has might be too heavy, and I really want to do the album like you have done it. I think it would be much more durable. I hope I'll be able to watch on Saturday, it will be great to watch a ustream show that is close to my own time zone!!

  • @2epplin1 I buy my chipboard from createforless {dot} com. The brand of chipboard I prefer is Paper Accents and I buy two strengths, which I use for different things. This is the lightweight strength and it is very thin ~ about as thick as a breakfast cereal box. I also buy the extra heavy, which I use for making custom chipboard albums. I hope you can join us on Saturday ~ I am excited to play with this album & I think it will be lots of fun!

  • This is a great take on Kathy's paper bag mini Kathryn! It gives it more strength as well. I was using lightweight chipboard for the flaps using Kathy's technique but the strength needs to be in the binding section - so thank you!!!! Hope to be at the crop :)

    smiles

  • Wow! That's awesome! You are so creative! That's a lot of work! :) Thanks for sharing!!

  • What a nice alternative to a paperbag album, love all the pockets and flaps. TFS. I will check in on your crop video to see how it turns out.

  • Thanks for this. I wanted to make Kathy's new style of mini but without hinging the bags together. Now I can without playing around for hours try ing to figure out how. Lela

  • thanks for another great tutorial. I just love your vids and the way you explain things so well that even a newbie like me can follow along.Hugs Ali

  • oh I am going to miss the crop I am going on a three day crop retreat. witch I will still have fun just cant see you make this mini :( record please.:)

  • @mommunson I will definitely record! :D Have fun at your retreat!

  • Thanks for sharing, I do look forward to your class on April 2nd at 9pm.

  • where did you get that Glue gun with the tiny AWESOME tip???!!

  • @juliespieces That is the Aleene's "Ultimate Glue Gun" and in came in a case with a variety of interchangeable tips. That is the precision point tiip & it's pretty much the only one I use ~ love it! You can get it lots of places, including Amazon.

  • (cont from prev comment...) The pages of the book should be sturdy enough, as they'll be composed of a large tag on the inside of the bag, 2 layers of the paper bag, and 2 layers of adhered PP in addition to whatever tags are tucked in on both the front and back sides.

  • How about only adhering a chipboard piece underneath the front side flap, as that is the only place needing reinforcement? That way, no unneeded bulk is added. If that piece were glued down prior to the large block of PP, you could make sure that the PP extended beyond the edge of the cardstock, ensuring that tags won't catch on the chipboard as they are tucked in. It just seems that an entire large panel of chipboard adds bulk without value.

  • @maureencmathis You could certainly do that if you prefer. My albums are very layered, and I use lots of 3-D embellishments, so I like a very rigid base. The way I scrapbook, the chipboard piece adds necessary rigidity to keep the album from rippling around the large embellishments I use and becoming misshapen over time.

  • First using the brayer is just BRILLANT!! I learn so much from you!! I have made a pbmini and enjoyed it, BUT I like the idea of rings!! Looking forward to April's Crop!
