  • it sucks!!

  • I have one question.. WHO THE FECK IS ICEMAN?!

  • @anxresi Retired UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell

  • Billy Connelly, the only man to rhyhm BA Baracus!

  • Is Gudrun Ure any relation of Midge?

  • These programs made RTE look good comparing to now...

  • man, sunday tv a pretty good when this came on just before bullseye...dont get tv like that anymore

  • I wish I hadn't stumbled across this, I've just been and bought the DVDs, on impulse! Good God, there were precious few TV channels and ITV was made up of small companies that produced some amazing and wonderful stuff (and total trash let's not forget). My partner and I used to laugh at the lyrics of the title song, and we didn't get upset at rhyming "a bunch of fairies" with "United Dairies". I think it was a kid's programme for adults to watch, so they felt like they were kids still.

  • This was from a time when ITV's individual franchises were mandated to provide a strand of children's programming during weekdays and a certain amount of extra kids' stuff during the weekends. It's like watching a foreign TV station because it most certainly is not the bland, crappy, non-region, generic ITV that exists today and which has squandered all of the goodwill which the regional franchises (like, in this case, Tyne Tees) enjoyed.

  • Who remembers a kids show called "The boy who won the Pools?"

  • Early 80's, the good old days, when you could have said anything you wanted, without it being 'politically incorrect'

  • i used to watch this in australia back in the 80's and 90's when i was a kid growing up... fuck some people take political correctness too far... can everyone just calm the fuck down please?

  • I actually wasn't allowed to watch this as a kid. My parents had some friends who had the TV on in their living room on a Sunday night and they quite often used to go round there. I used to watch it there, as my mum and dad stood chatting to their friends about their new MFI kitchen fittings, while my sister and my parents' friends' toddler ate play doh!

  • Stand back superman, iceman, spiderman, batman and robin too!!

    LOL. classic stuff.

  • @mongoingo .Billy Connolly sung the theme tune,i don't think he'd have wrote it though.

  • Ah Sunday afternoon this was aired on TV I remember I made my mum and dad watch this religiously lol

  • fukin stuff of legend, would be way 2politically incorrect for tv nowadays!

  • I live in the US but I have the full song for this show on my Ipod. My son wants to see the show since we sing this every morning on the way to school!

  • Yip ,Watched it!

  • Back when Billy Connolly could get away with doing kids tv intros and they could say "You old minge bag" on kids TV and it was acceptable...

  • Awesome

  • They really have to made show like this now

  • Oh I still knew all the words perfectly !!!!!

  • I used to watch Supergran all the time - mostly for "location spotting" as I live a couple of towns over from where they filmed it (A place called Tynemouth). In fact, there is an old church there which used to have a few props from the TV show in it, dunno if they still there now though.

  • They just dont make em like they used these days quality show this was all we got now is countless reality tv programs SHITE be the word for them.

  • BOO to the 8 people who gave this animated old fart a thumbs down.

  • @drdawn86 Try ebay its supergran by Billy connerly if that helps. It was a record

  • i was in last two eps . . .

  • From one eighties kid to another - yes i watched it religiously too and can tell you much about the story line either.....hmm....besides a crazy granny with super powers

  • Yeah!

  • classic

  • billy connelly at his best

  • Can't believe I still know the words to this! haha

  • Like every other 80s kid, I used to watch this religiously. But in truth, I don't think I actually ever understood it.. Beyond the old lady having super powers, I didn't really get what was going on.

Be honest, did you REALLY understand it, or have you just been afraid for the past 20 odd years to speak out and admit you didn't have a clue what the hell it was all about?

  • @97channel too true lol

  • Even for a kids programme, this was BAD!!!!

  • I seem to remember this being on on a Sunday, followed by Bull's eye.

  • RIP, 'Mr. Campbell'... :(

  • God I hated this show.

Nice nostalgia trip all the same though :-)

  • Why do all 80s shows have "look out for..." in the lyrics?

Look out for Super Gran. Look out for Metal Mickey!

  • she's got more bottle than united dairies.

  • wow, this show takes me back so far that i dont even remember the intro after seeing it just then, i know i used to watch it though

  • Always watched it on a Sunday.

  • I remember this, I grow up watching Supergran.

  • Gudrun Urggggh

  • 2bad billy conellys a fukin tattie howker,whos shaggin rod stewart.gr8 program.

  • brilliant song by Billy Connolly. lol

  • I love the Tyne Tees ident at the beginning!

  • this song is incredibly catchy

  • is supergran still alive if so she must be getting on a bit

  • Yes she still alive! The actress who plays Supergran, Gudrun Ure is now 83 years old.

  • Important point: although Supergran herself was Scottish the series was made by Tyne Tees Television (Newcastle) so it was filmed around greater Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (particularly Whitley Bay) and set in a fictional north-east of England town called "Chisleton".

All the other characters, like the children, have clear Geordie accents.

  • This is the first time ive seen that opening credit in more than 20 years..LOL.. I still love that music.. :-)

  • Where is her red cape? lol

  • Not a lot of people know that it was Billy Connolly who sang this theme tune!

  • That's a really rockin' song!

" Stand back Superman, Iceman, Spiderman, Batman Robin too. . .

she makes them look like a bunch of fairies!"

    Awsome.

  • @eveningtsar

and is that a reference to "BA Barachus"? Better every time!

  • Good old Tyne Tees. Back when ITV wasn't shite.

  • @christian2006morris The regional output was superb (sadly never to be matched again seemingly), but the logos were a bit shite! Classy though. I love all of them.

  • @christian2006morris It was shite then. and its shite now.

  • RIP Iain Cuthbertson, Scunner

  • Finally Supergran has been released on DVD, woohoo!!

  • I forgot Tyne Tees made it i assumed STV did. Ah The old Tyne Tees - not quite spirit level aligned - logo another great logo that is sadly missed

  • I used to love Super Gran!

What's the title of this show: a little boy transforms into dog (black & white with curly hair). The boy has red hair. The show was made in UK.

  • That sounds to me like "Woof!" It ran from 1989 to 1997 on Children's BBC and the dog was originaly played by Pippen. Anthony Head cropped up later as a man with the same affliction. Hope that answers your question ok!

  • You're right, it is "Woof!".

    Thank you, much appreciated!

  • Woof was made by Central Television. It was broadcast on CITV.

  • Woof?

  • Ah, the Tyne Tees ident and Supergran. Couldn't have one without the other!

  • Billy Connely sang the theme to this .

  • Great stuff, there bringing it out on dvd soon i've heard

  • LOL Supergran!

  • You've never been here then. Beautiful parks, buildings, schools. Kind, funny, generous people. We'd hate you to visit.

Ignorant saddo. Get yourself sorted out.

  • you forgot to include buckfast, kilt wearing, inbreeding, being tight with cash, and being ginger; now let's move on to what's wrong with immigrants...

  • great! never thought id hear that ever again thanks!

  • @kpuc1973 I'm a "poof" and I thought it didnt upset me. She probly does make them look like a bunch of fairies.

    LOL

  • @chumphonFC why? Nothing wrong with the expression. Fairies being small little creatures easily squished.

  • this is fab...takes me right back!!!!!

  • She's a serious granny. Super Gran. A serious granny! :-)
