Well, Frank Gorshin's portrayal of him was so popular they changed to Riddler in the comics to be more like him. The Riddler was a relatively obscure Batman villain, but Gorshin's memorable portrayal of him elevated him into the top. One can spot a lot of that in Carrey's version of him in Batman Forever.

She looked both sexy n kick-ass...wat Catwoman is actually supposed to be unlike Julie Newmar who looked like some slut trying to seduce Batman! Halle's acting was jst amazing though her outfit was like dat of a stripper...though i really liked the back part of it..hot!! And c'mon mate shes supposed to b portraying A catwoman of the 21st century...though i agree Julie looked pretty good bt its jst Halle was better!
