I've got a 1987 with the 350. I don't know a whole lot about engines, but the truck is a monster. It's got a huge brush guard on the front that was on it when we bought it, and when I'm on the interstate in it, people get out of my way. And it screams after I get it up to about 75. Defening. I love it.

Ive seen both methods work.

In landrover trials the lowest power ones usually won though, they just plodded up hils at high idle and the v8 ones just revved and spun, but I reckon with enough power the skidding method works, just look at the icelandic off road competitions, the chevy V8 rules with nitrous, they can even drive over lakes with the spinning tyres keeping vehicle on top of water!
