  • Thank you for your research.

  • hello eyepatchENT. i have about $5kthe to spend on cameta equipment and was looking at the gh2 and hacking it. what are some good lenses needed to achieve wide angles due to the crop of the sensor? also: with the hack, will i notice a big differrnce on a 60inch lcd screen.

  • Have to disagree with your insistence on using the 45 Mb Extreme Pro card. I've been using driftwood's earlier 140 Mb/s GOP 3 settings with a 16 GB Sandisk Extreme 30 Mb/s Class 10 card with no problems or crashes at all except for the known file spanning issue when you hit 4 Gigs recording.

  • I tried it and it worked just fine. Extremely stable for me using a 16GB Extreme Pro 45mb/s. The only problem I had was to import the footage to Final Cut Pro 7. Did you use FCP or Premiere or Sony Vegas? When I import to FCP 7 via Log and Transfer, the footage appears with a lot of artifacts. Thank you!

  • what about your AQ setting bro? you fuck with that shit?

  • I hacked my GH2 42 mbit high and I shot a wedding (foolish lover of quality that I am) and it worked fine all day EXCEPT for long clips. I reached about 10 minutes and it just suddenly stopped recording. Then I went to play back and it lost ALL my clips. I panicked, shut the camera off and then SOME of the clips came back. I had about 70 short ones in there. When I got the card home EVERYTHING was there. Thank God!!! But I would warn everyone, it is not stable on longer clips.

  • ALRIGHT ALREADY - DO WE REALLY CARE, DONT GET ME WRONG I'M SURE WE ALL APPRECIATE WHAT YOU ARE DOING BUT ITS NOT LIKE WE CAN EVEN TELL WITH YOUTUBE COMPRESSION !!!! CAN YOU HACK THE 5D?

  • Awesome. I am loving these updates on the hack. Thanks for doing this man. I bought that same card from the beginning of owning my GH2 (32GB version) really glad I did it now.

I think I am more interested in the 720p 60fps video though.. would these settings also be good for that video mode?

  • @garitd Yeah, I think I have 66mb for the 720p. I think that is plenty for that mode. Maybe someday we'll get 1080p 60 slowmotion on the gh2. That's my hope.

  • Even at 480p that looked nice. Getting bitrate envy.....though can't afford a gh2 til they come down to $700ish.
