@strickmatic727 that is true. towards the end of his life King adopted a form of socialism. But honestly he probably would not have had circumstances been different Up till the end of his life he took a firm stand against communism. But Dr. King had no knowledge of economics whatsoever and the American Government secretly put in communist infiltrators to be his advisors and to see if they could get him to switch over to some form of radicalism, for which they could destroy him.
@strickmatic727 so what happened was over time he developed sort of a socialism/democracy blend, mostly at the fault of the government infiltrators in his organization.. But it wasnt based on any economic theory or seriously developed thought. He didnt really care so much about that part of politics. Instead he concerned himself with freedom and civil rights almost exclusively. Anyways, this interpretation of King is far more accurate than the one the left paints on him all the time.
@strickmatic727 I mean he would have been pro illegalization of all drugs. Pro illegalization of Gay Marriage, pro life. He was VERY religiously influenced in his political theory and he was a staunch social conservative in everything except black civil rights. Civil rights is really a republican not democratic ideal. Cuz to be honest racism and the lack of civil rights had nothing to do with republicanism as it was pushed by southern whites who were, in the 60s and earlier, mostly democrats.
@strickmatic727 but considering the modern republican party's proclivity to warmongering I think its safe to say that King most definitly would NOT have been a republican. Really, if he were alive today and knew about how filled with faults communism is and KNEW about libertarianism i think its not too much of a stretch to assume that he would have probably been a religious conservative libertarian. He certainly would not be a modern Democrat OR Republican. thats for sure.
republican is a major party, t.v. lets them talk much like democratic party. If Ron Paul stayed in Libertarian party, will the media let them talk? If Ron Paul never appeared with the republicans presidential candidate , i think i will never know Ron Paul.
I was about 20 ft from RP when he rang that bell, it gave me chills. [that was from the Texas Straw poll, at the end of the parade from the motel to the convention center.]

i agree. he did it for practical reasons.
1. To get elected to congress.
2. To build a reputation.
3. To get some media exposure.
