awesome stuff Bob, Was all amazing, love all the steam in the last clip, and tornado did look great in the Margam yard bit! Nice whistles too! Did you have a good time at WSR then? I did although the rain was a bit off putting on saturday but got some good captures anyway. 5*
Yes thanks Sam, got soaked through several times, gave up for a while yesterday afternoon, then caught a few at the end of the day, came back home this morning and will be uploading mine in the morning...Bob
Thanks once again, believe it or not, this locomotive was built new in 2008 to a design that dates back to the 1930's. The locomotive is privately owned, and it took nearly 20 years to build it ....Bob
Build a brand new steam locomotive, that's impressive; and I'm not surprised to took that long: I'm sure that a huge amount of hours, passion, money and trouble shooting has been put in it. Lucky owners now :) Best. VF
Thanks Philippe as always for your kind comments,My camcorder is a Panasonic HDC-HS25 Full HD and I also use a 20 year old Manfrotto Fluid Head tripod. ....Regards...Bob
It's a Manfrotto Fluid Head tripod that's 21 years old now....if you're thinking of getting a tripod, then one with a fluid head is a must. Although more expensive, it gives you smother movement...Bob
Excellent stuff Rob. It was funny seeing her go so fast in reverse through Briton Ferry. Seemed to be a lot of fuss just to turn the engine for the return. Any reason why they didn't use the triangle by Landore? 5*
Thanks very much Siobhan, it went back from Swansea to Margam, for servicing and taking on water for the return journey. When it was returned light engine to Swansea, it was turned on Landore loop to face London for the return Journey...Bob
My God, no matter how many times I see it, I still can't believe my eyes. She's an absolutely magnificent engine, probably the most beautiful one I've ever seen in my life. Hard to believe she's a new steam engine too. Fantastic footage man, and long live the Tornado :)
Suppose everyone turned up in their hundreds to get Tornados triumphent return to Wales. She never seems to escape the public eye were you go haha. Still a nice day in terms of lighting you had for this occasion, and pretty eye catching to see Tornado run light engine with no support coach at Llansamlet
Great vid Bob, you got some good shots. Tornado looked strange running light engine dont think I've ever seen a mainline steam engine do that before, a nice sight. I missed it a cardiff as I had to work, (story of my life that) never mind, love the vid 5* ...............Martin
You really must get yourself sorted out Martin, you can't let work interfere with seeing mainline steam...:O) It is rare to see a light engine on the main line, but Oliver Cromwell did the same last year when it worked to Cardiff and ran to and from Newport to turn..it's in my collection id you want to search it out...Bob
Well done Dave, keeping you're roots alive. Yesterday was like a dream, perfect weather, Gwyl Dewi Sant, Diesels, steam, and the company of friends throughout the day....beth arall gallo chi gofni am?...Bob
Another 5* performance from your good self Bob in perfect conditions. I enjoyed the opening shot at Skewen bank and so must have the bloke next to you, firing off at least 50+ photos before the engine disappeared.
That's a professional speaking, it was a friend of mine Martyn, why he doesn't just video it I don't know...There was about twenty five people on that bridge so the noise wasn't too bad...it was a great St David's Day, and I was in heaven...Bob
Awesome video Bob i was gutted i missed her coming into Swansea (had a late lunch as well) so i could go and film her)i gather that she was early arriving at Swansea
