I met him about a week ago when he did a cameo role in a pilot for a Western TV series. I haven't run across many folks as genuinely nice and friendly in a long, long time. And his voice is as good as ever.

Funny how the top commenter mentioned Garth Brooks, because his last name is Brooks, but to avoid confusion with Garth and Brooks and Dunn, he changed his stage name to Stone. This great music should never be overshadowed, he ranks right up there with those 'bigger' names if you ask me.

Wow, I grew up listening to Doug Stone. I never knew his last name was Brooks..... He is such a great singer with or without a mic he still sounds the same. I can't say that for most singers today!!!

It's funny you say that about Doug Stone getting overshadowed by Garth Brooks. When Doug started putting out records, he changed his last name so he wouldn't be confused with another very popluar artist. His real name is Doug Brooks.
