this is my grandfather's favorite song. i used to remember when i was a little girl, grandpa would sit at the piano everyday & play this song while granny would sit beside & sing. it's sad because grandpa died 20 years ago. & that song was never again played in our house the way it was when he was alive.
@cartoonhepcat - I was just voting for an artist to draw Willie's portrait, so i kept it brief, but with the STRONG recommendation that anyone who likes this should visit their friendly neighborhood or online music seller and get the whole album. It's really a great collection of songs.
Thanks for posting the composer and lyricist. I wig everyone would do that. ( seems like people think that the singers are responsible for the songs.) thanks.
My favourite version of this timeless song. The entire album, no exceptions, is outstanding. Just heard the original Hoagy piano version on pianoplaylist here. Recommend it as well. Thank you so much, poster.
I am not a country western fan, but I own this album. Willie Nelson is one of those great performers who cannot be held to just one category. Ok, maybe one category: Entertainer.
I was just remeniscing about when a former love of mine turned me onto willie doing this song. She was a self taught guitar player herself, who went on to study professionally and is now fairly well known, but she always loved the way that Willie could play guitar. I think that sometimes people really do not realize exactly how great Willie is on that damned old thing, but he really is a master
This reminds me of growing up...We used togo to my grandparents house every weekend...My grandpa would sit there in his chair drinking his red wine...And would play WILLIE NELSON and FRANK SINATRA all the time....MAN,I miss them and those days...R.I.P. Palmeros
this is one of my willie nelson's favorite songs...it seems that he is at peace when singing this...far away from his present problems...so relaxing...
This one goes out to my Mom. I remember practicing all the chords and then going out to Mom's stage under the stars on Chocolate bayou. The beer joint was just a shack like place with about 1 million knick knacks and souveiners inside, with a porch out front that was our stage. It was nothing fancy at all. I then told her I learned this song for you. I played and she liked it. I bet she can see the stars great now that she is in heaven. Love ya mom, always will. PG (You're favorite son)
I have listened to quite a few covers of this song.....nat king cole etc. For me, this is the best version. Somehow.....willie's country voice sounds great in this
Oh I so agree with the previous posters that this version of Stardust is absolutely the best. Not simply because I adore Mr Nelsons' music, but I have listened to loads of different versions, and this is numero uno in my book!
this song reminds me of my grandfather.... who was a musician himself and played this song many years ago. I personally feel this is the best rendition of this song... unique
Did you go to the new video's comments & vote for Willie? (Jonas Bros. portrait, currently.)
(Note to self: Update the annotations links!)
A lot of people threw together a LOT of 4-second bumps, but I figured even if it's short, if I'm going to put it out on the web, it may as well be worth watching.
3 vids per grizzled veteran musician - that's probably my limit.
I do tend to spend a fair amount of time on these, but I'm learning Windows Movie maker better because of it. My 1st slide-shows were done on Nero PhotoShow, a DECENT result, but a pain to get there - no timeline, so getting edits to sync w/ sound is a real chore.
I don't suppose you can exercise judge's privilege & add points for quality?
Love this song and love this album.

I adore this man and his voice, he is one of a kind just like the Beatles and Roy Orbison. A true treasure.
